So it's hard to tell in the picture but the little fish are around 30lbs. First fish of the season was a shooter. Good way to begin.

NJ produced tonight! Took 10 more just like this. Insane surface popper action, just wild. The blitz lasted for 30mins.
O. M. F. G! Sick striper action man, I would kill to get in on something like that.
Yea, buddy! That thing's a beast. Are those bunker sitting in his mouth?

hook-big treble hook on a lead plug about 7 inches long that looked like a minnow bouncing off the bottom at 150'
boat-twin 150hps Yamahas 28' long
fish-45lb halibut 3cm under the legal keep length of 135cm, but realize the fish is 3/4 the weight of the kid who is 11 and did the whole thing by himself
Yep...2 bunker...one was from the live line the other was an appetizer. These bass were just gorging themselves. They were destroying everything you could throw at them. 40-50" fish exploding on to surface plugs, if you didn't set the hook and it spit another bass would devour the plug instantly.Attachment 167931Attachment 167932
Stoke!! That fish probably didn't survive release with all that blood though. Our regs here are making us release too many dead fish [emoji17]. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...3f0f376cbf.jpg
28' twin 150 yamahas. Pretty fast and definitely a fish killer.
Nice NR Offshore Chugach! Just got my own AL love boat but she's about the size of the tender you'd use with that beast! She's at bottom paint now but will be up on the Sound as of this weekend. Bit of an upgrade from the old kayak.

It's only mine in the sense that I'm the captain. Got one nice flatty today and some kings and some yelloweyes. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...22aad7ef84.jpg
What's with the notches in the tail?
That fish is 71 inches long. To legally keep halibut here it has to be under 42 or over 80 inches. There's a workaround in that if you're willing to pay for it $340 you can keep a fish in between. It's called a GAF guided angler fish. That money goes to and that fish comes out of a commercial fisherman's quota. The notches are a legal requirement as destruction of the trophy to make it a commercial fish. Dumb.

Wanted to put this here. That fish is about 280lbs 77" long. Caught and released on one of the best halibut fishing days ever. 2 fish over 200 and 3 between 90-150 several 50-60lbs fish and got out limit of legal sized fish too. I'm exhausted after releasing all those hogs.
Gotta do me some Halibut some day.
My summer went to shit. Managed to find a rock by letting a noob drive the boat. She will run in 5" of water, but....
Here's the damage. About $18k worth. Thankfully insurance covered it.

Managed to get a few decent 45cm+ Flathead (an Aussie flatfish) off the kayak today. I took photos but they came out as blurred pieces of shit so I'm not going to bother posing until the next trip.
Stumbled on a couple of brown trout yesterday while striper fishing. This one is a 9 pounder.

That's a hog!
Imagine the size of the striper you'd catch if you used that one for bait
LOL, would have to order bigger hooks. Biggest I carry on the boat now is a 10/0.

Striper season almost here in New England. And a new rod just arrived (lami 1203)
Last year's favorite- caught on a boat with a motor, 30#pp, live eel with a 6/0 octopus hook. Didn't weigh but 49 inches long...and I needed 2 hands.
Took 25 minutes but it did eventually swim away after some dr Quinn medicine woman type shit
Nice fish. We hit the Cumberland River just outside of Nashville last weekend. Biggest was right at 40. Note the tune.
