Ken, do you believe that someone who smokes pot should be a restricted person that cannot purchase a firearm?
"unlawful user" is easy to get around in California when you can get a doctor's note for medical pot just by telling them you have nightmares or eyelid spasms. Of course, possessing a firearm in Kalifornia is another matter entirely.
Who knows, who cares? Feds care. The law is what it is. I have a Corvette and would like to drive around at 80-90 most of the time, but can't. Sometimes I do, and knowingly take the chance of capture when I do.
I know some people that I don't have a problem with that use, and some that don't need to be near firearms. My guess is that the law is as much a way to add another charge to someone than anything else. And to catch the obvious fools.

I second that notion of double bagging and rolling it up, slipping inside a bottle of shampoo/conditioner. Flown with that in luggage a few times. Something about those types of fluids occluding x-rays? Maybe I shouldn't believe that but I did at the time.
Just got a call from a bud that a FedEx shipment has come through. He's run this a couple times. The first time, the package arrived with less inside than it had been sent with and was obviously resealed. After that he started using the fastest service/overnight shipments working under the presumption that since there is less time in transit, there is less opportunity for discovery. They just throw that stuff in the truck, run the dogs through, then throw it on a plane and take off. Wrapped to conceal of course. Apparently its working, but stakes are obviously very high

Some of those dogs can't smell shit. I helped train them in the military. One day we were called in to sweep my friend's room. He had a shit load of pot buried under some potpourii in the bidet. The dog stuck his nose straight into the bidet and didn't smell a thing. My friend got very very lucky.Quote:

Cannabis blunder at Tokyo airport
An unwitting passenger arriving at Japan's Narita airport has received 142g of cannabis after a customs test went awry, officials say.
A customs officer hid a package of the banned substance in a side pocket of a randomly chosen suitcase in order to test airport security.
Sniffer dogs failed to detect the cannabis and the officer could not remember which bag he had put it in.
Anyone finding the package has been asked to contact customs officials.
"This case was extremely regrettable. I would like to deeply apologise," said Narita International Airport's customs head Manpei Tanaka.
Strict laws
The customs officer conducted the test on a passenger's bag against regulations. Normally a training suitcase is used.
"I knew that using passengers' bags is prohibited, but I did it because I wanted to improve the sniffer dog's ability," the officer was quoted as saying.
"The dogs have always been able to find it before... I became overconfident that it would work," he said.
Japan has strict laws against drugs and possession of small amounts of cannabis can lead to a prison sentence.
