Soft Snow Gymkhana - The Heritage Lab FR110

The R110 is hilariously most fun ski ever. And it is fast as fuck. I was bouncing back and forth between this and an Atris, live in the Roaring Fork Valley. I don't get how it can be that much fast than the Atris everywhere, carve and hold edge better on Highland warm up groomers, snake through Deep Tem trees, lay down giggly big ass high speed turns down the Bowl. Cut up pow it is just giggly fun, drop it down whatever and just go. If there is a more fun ski out there let me know, I'll take two.

Just skied the last storm cycle at Whistler. Lots of fresh, skied the last 5 days with lots of good coverage everywhere. Skied all over Whistler and Blackcomb. Big ski days. Exhausted. Only ski I used was the FR110.

Taking a couple of days off and then heading back up Thurs. for 5 more days. Prolly gonna just ski them again. May need a second pair.

Hi All, I booked a heliski trip this coming weekend with Mike Wiegele in BC. I've had the FR110s in roughly foot deep cascade concrete but nothing deeper or lighter just yet. Do you guys feel the FR110s would be good for a BC heliski trip? I love the skis but just don't have the powder exposure on them just yet. I'm guessing they will tear it up.

What’s your widest/biggest ski?

I’m sure they’d handle it well, but I’m not sure that would be my first choice for A heli trip.

I’ve got some buddies up at BC op, don’t know which one but they are using Heli-op supplied K[emoji638] skis that are [emoji637][emoji639][emoji638] mm underfoot, some kind of pontoon evolution ski called the crescendo

Swallowtail is dead money in the deep.

I bought the FR120 for motorized back country. I have skied it inbounds, but have not really done it justice. Either that or my Renegade would be the go-to in that situation.

Have you never been on full reverse? They really are amazing in good snow. And yet they are so much more comfy for lift service tracked out snow. Yeah the original DPS reverses are fun in fresh touring. But it’s hard to beat the versatility of FR

And the R is a great compromise DD. Unless you really want to lay in and carve train tracks. But the R does carve quite nicely.

Totally agree Core Shot. I love full reverse and used to ski Hojis and Ravens a ton inbounds cause of their versatility, especially in shit snow. Everyone used to ask how can you ski full reverse so much inbounds. I find them easier. My FR 110 is my most used ski at Whistler this year and my Ravens and Hojis are relegated to hanging on my office wall (neither has been on snow yet this year).

Seems like FR is either “love it” or “meh” for folks. Im firmly in the first camp: if I had to pick one ski from my quiver to ski everyday it would be my 186 FR110s, and I don’t even live in a high-snow area

It’s my first “cold dead hands ski”. That ultimately pivotability is so addicting and it carves better than it should. I was always very hoji shape curious but never pulled the trigger due to them being light.

Just a bump to remind the world that the RDimes in OneEightySeven for me at FiveEight and OneFifty with a Lange RS OneThirty is the best goddamn daily driver in world history. I've put it through the entire ringer here in Japan all season. From early season lowtide to pow, to crud and finally to melt freeze and slush. Honestly, this ski is astounding. It is quiet. It is damp. It arcs, and it dances. This should be the foundation to your quiver. From here you only need a touring ski, a storm ski, and maybe a firm snow carver if you ski that stuff... which I luckily don't. I don't like the One Ski Quiver term but this is the broadest ski I have ever been on. The ability to float, carve. drift, haul ass, and shut down is something I never knew could exist in one ski. Just saying. If you are not yet in the cult, you are are missing out on a ski you could own for the rest of your life as a foundation to every other niche you have to fill.

Too bad there is not an R thread. The FR is way more versatile than the old DPS reverse. Might be more like the spatulas which I never rode but which are heavier and more damp. R can definitely daily drive. Marshal killed it with that design</p>

R dimes are the best.

I’m happy with a minus seven point five mount on my one eight six. I think they’re less tolerant of mounting outside the recommended than the BC Ninety.

My 186 R110’s are at -7cm. I like them and they feel balanced there. If I was starting over I’d probably go -7.5 or -7.75cm. I also have a small bsl (295mm) so for a bigger boot that’d be more like -8 to -8.2cm behind true center.

I like more traditionally mounted skis and tend to drive the tips. Had to adapt somewhat to a more centered stance with these but I get along well with them now

My one ninety three R One tens are at minus seven point seven five for a three twenty seven bsl and are perfect. I originally mounted my bc one tens at minus nine for the reasons you mentioned and they felt sluggish and I didn’t love them. I moved to minus seven point five and they felt very much like the R one ten but lighter and shorter. I don’t think this particular shape is very tolerant of mounting outside the recommend line.

The only thing I’m not in love with is the twin tip tail, it catches in funky snow sometimes.

Jeebus, MO’s latest email pimping the AM oneten has me wondering if I should’ve dropped on those instead of the Rdimez. At the time I had mFree oneofeights which are now down the road

I don&#39;t think anyone is going to be disappointed with the RDimes. Really just the awesomest ski ever. Literally just skied it every day this season except three I think. Absolutely loved it in all conditions. Seems that Marshall just makes so many good skis you are always going to be wanting the next one.....just don&#39;t let that ruin the enjoyment of the one you just got.
When and where do we get to talk about the Lab One Zero Eight that I saw on the website?

^^ I have both the R and AM (my AM110 is a beta), and the only real question is whether you want a touch of camber or not. For my purposes, the AM110 will not see much use. My days will be split between the FL105 (daily driver), R110 (if I feel frisky), the RC116 (which I think I am going to love), and the HB122. Oh, and the RC85 when it is really low tide. I also have had some great days on my R120, so I have to make sure to give it some love too.

They are all just so damn good.

Iron Horse - Can you compare the FL105 to the R110? After years of more modern mount points, I've been thinking about going a bit further back. I don't want to give up too much looseness / ability to slash the tails though.

Let me start by saying that the FL105 is my all time favorite ski. It makes me feel like Superman. Makes me feel like I know what I am doing. So good in so many different conditions, confidence-inspiring no matter what the mountain throws at you.

The R110 takes the genetics of the FL105 and makes it more accessible. Rails but at the same time can slash. I originally had an FR110, but it was too loose for my taste. The R110 is exactly what I want in a reverse ski.

My R110 is mounted -8.25 whereas my FL105 is -10.75.

It sounds to me like you would love the FL105 v2. I haven&#39;t skied this new version, but on paper, it looks to be much looser than the original, especially in the tail. Also the mount point was moved up a touch, so that might be a nice way for you to adjust to something more directional.

I think the AM110 (and BC110 cambered) would be everything I wanted the FR110 and BC110 to be and some - which says a lot as they are great skis too. They would prob give my M-Free 112s a run for being a perfect daily driver.
