Sounds like a Norco Range (haven't ridden).

I have a good friend who raced semi-pro DH for a long time, he’s been on a Megatower from Santa Cruz for a few years now, coaches a gravity team here in UT and races DH on it. It’s his only trail bike

Wow, is that a sprockets quorum?
Interesting, definitely checks the right boxes. $4k for the frame is gonna have me looking used, though.
Transition Spire also gets high marks for pedal-ability. 170F&R same as the range. I've seen them very lightly used for ~$5000.
Cascade makes a link to increase leverage and bump rear travel up to 180, and the frame is rated for dual crown, so you can get as gnar as you want on it. At 180/200 it's basically a DH bike.
My buddy who goes through a ton of big bikes loves his mega tower. He’s also got a Forbidden Dreadnaught as his Enduro race bike.

Specialized Status is probably your best bet for affordable durable single crown park slayer.
I’d also consider a Knolly Chilcotin, Trek Slash, Spec Enduro, Commencal Meta, Canyon Strive.

I’m not necessarily tied to single crown, just want something slightly more versatile than a full-on DH bike. What are you riding at Snowshoe? Starting to think that cost wise I should just get a used DH bike and take two bikes so that I have something for the enduro trails and stuff by Silvercreek.
I sometimes treat the Facebook “MTB Maintenance” page like ask the experts.
Someone ask a legitimate question where they need help, and I answer it, and provide supporting documents from a manufacturers tech site, and people on the site want to argue that it’s wrong.
Like how to size my chain? It’s a FS, it’s Shimano 12s, here are the steps, count this many spare links, here’s the document showing this procedure.
The chain drooping in the photo, and some jackass comments about B Tension. I give up and shouldn’t try to help.
Pressfit BB’s… and yes I already know…. Bought a frame that appears to have a sram BB for a 30mm spindle. Have a crank I want to use that’s 24 gpx, I assume I need a whole new BB and can’t get just get a kit to go from 30 down to 24?

Yes, new BB is in order. Wheels Manufacturing does make an adapter but your adding a press fit adapter to a press fit BB and it cost as much as a BB…
Just use your brain and a punch and you will be fine, you might be able to make a 1 1/8 head set remover on a 30mm.
Thanks fellas, I assumed as much. Fucking press fit….

I ride my DH bike at Snowshoe; Commencal Supreme. But my other bikes are a 10yo 26er Knolly and a SpecEd Levo Ebike. I ride the Levo at SS when the DH bike is down, but worry about wear and tear on big fast days.
My wife rides her DH bike 70% of the time and her Knolly Delirium 30% of the time. She loves the Delirium there. Does not hesitate to take it down the WC track.
Tons of people shredding enduro bikes at Snowshoe and Windrock these days. On the flip side though, it’s really turning into a buyers market for DH rigs. Buddy has been trying to sell his Sender for a year now.

Yeah, I've been really happy with the Gnarvana. Just don't like the beating it's taking, and I got lazy towards the end of the season so I was DDing the Gnarvana which isn't ideal.
The Shore would be perfect if it was 29. I don't have anything against 27.5, but everything else I own is 29 and I'm done with disparate parts.
Seems ridiculous that Norco decided if you want a 29er you have to pay premium for it.
Just get an alloy Transition Spire and call it good.

Time for seasonal refresh of a 2021 X2. Pain in the ass or pretty reasonable? Quick search and I'm seeing there might be a need for some proprietary tools and what not, so might punt if it's gonna project that ends up costing a bunch anyway. Also thinking it might be worth it to send to Diaz to smooth out the back end, though not sure how much difference that would make on a shock that is tuned specifically for the bike, if not the rider. Cost isn't much more than sending to Fox.
