Thanks for the tips TBS, 3S and Joey. Until I get a more permanent solution to the hoppers, I tried elevating the plants on a framework of pallets. This got them high enough off the ground that the hoppers couldn't get to them. Not a long term solution, but works for now.
On another topic - my plants were all sexed as female, but someone told me I should watch out for one going to an hermaphrodite. Is that a real worry? If so, how do I tell if one has gone that way?
@natebob .if a female has hermaphrodite tendency and you decide to still grown it .there is the possibility of.your whole.garden of females become seeded
( with hermaphrodite tendency genetics)

I tested the rainwater out of the my downspout and
by (green test solution method)
it looked pretty hot
Like a pH 6 (yellow towards yellowish orange)
Tap water here by reno is like over pH 8
literally tests blue leaning towards BLUE with my method
Never water with just city
I bought a 48 gallon rain bucket I've been filling and adjusting to water my trees and shrubs

Cannabis wants the pH at 5.7-6.3
Lots of stuff available commercially to bring pH down.

@TBS - I was told to watch for trannies because of 3s's first point above - that if one goes that way, it could cause all the plants to be seeded. Thanks for the link for how to ID males.
Yeah, if one goes f - m you need to kill it immediately upon seeing “balls”or your whole crop is fukd
I’m still a little confused though. Are your plants cloned from a mother or propagated from seed? If seed, were they feminized? Were they stressed by heat or some funky light cycle early on?
How were they “sexed” early in veg? Because I don’t know how (without dna testing) until they start showing flowers/balls…
The confusion is probably because I don't know exactly what I'm talking about. I inherited these plants from a grower friend who passed. My understanding is they were cloned from a mother, started indoors. Does that make them all female for sure at this point, and as they start to flower it's possible that one goes f - m? Maybe I'm worrying about this too early, because it's too early to tell.Quote:

Everything was good with cherry pie and you stop being vigilant after presexing and then as they are flowering you notice a couple pollen sacks

Being in a black pot could be yiur root mass temps are too high for proper root propagation
Your mix should be loose enough where over watering isn't possible unless you don't have drain holes
Check your pH so your plant doesn't get nutrient lock up
My raised bed being 12" deep is about 100 gal total
My plants are getting a gallon/day each of water
(HIGH DESERT HUMIDITY) usually in the teens
Nutes are 2/3 gal/plant every 3rd day
Ah, right on. Yeah, the soil is loose and water does drain thru, but I could see black being a problem. The summer sun is definitely strong here in Santa Cruz. We're getting a decent amount of morning fog so I assumed that is helping keep it slightly moist as well. Was telling my wife that this is the first plant I've ever owned. "We" have had a million plants and gardens, but I've done nothing...but build the beds and lug dirt around. She's been the farmer. This is a good new experience for me.

I'm intrigued because I hear about everyone leaving for Texas or Idaho and I wonder if prices will come down enough so I can afford to retire in CA. I knew you moved from NH. That almost looks like you over fertilized her. I would water the ever loving shit out of it for two days, like full on drench to wash the soils and then let her rebound for a week or so. The growing medium looks like it could be a richer soil just judging from the bark looking pieces on top. Repot it in a bigger pot, probably not a felt, and get a sphagnum moss rich medium like lamberts green or something of that nature.Quote:

Check the bottom sides of that leaf and others like that, could be mites. If that’s the case there is only one solution that will work. Avid. Shit is nasty but the only actual control. All the other stuff will just beat them back.
