I’m went with the 8”, I’m building a host for my 9mm can. I have a handguard I can nest it in. In theory the RDS should quiet it up a bit.

You could just have someone pin a shroud on your existing barrel.

Thanks for the ammo seek tip, I signed up and setup an alert. I’ve got a good stockpile, but I picked up a Ruger 10/22 Target Lite a few months ago and have been shooting it to just to reduce costs in general...

I put a Triji ACOG and RMR on my Mathews VXR and it was sick. I just added the competition mag and dialed my release down to 1.5 pounds. That and the ambi safety--it's unreal. I'm going to put a rail on my quiver so that I can get that laser goodness for close quarters combat.

I finished putting together an upper along the lines of the InRangeTV What Would Stoner Do rifle (CF tube, pencil barrel with integrated flash hider, other lightweight stuff), and it came to about 5.25 lbs with optic on a standard rifle lower. Carrier and buffer are still full mass. This should be kinda fun.

Looks like what is left of Remington is going to be sold off brand by brand with Ruger snapping up Marlin. Not sure about their ammo.
