Feeling really good about this thread lol
I'm sure you could. I only really ever skied the rope tow and a few sunnysides. Vail ridge is scary.

If Alta’s website is accurate, we are looking at 16 inches of 2% density snow this morning. Don’t sneeze too hard or you may blow it off the hill.
I don't know what the 16 inch number is about as CLN reported 12. Ever since the Taking Alta Bombs With 21 Year Olds marketing team came on, there have been suspicious snowfall totals like this on the website. Particularly suspicious since you will see the "Seasonal total" go up by only, say, 12 inches when the website is reporting 16 new. Hmmmmm.
Regardless, even at 12 inches it would be 2.7 percent. Clearing the patios and sidewalks with leaf blowers today!!
All Kevins aside, I really appreciate seeing real reports from real skiers, especially on powder days like this [deep fairy dust on crust?] when I have to hold myself back from dealing with traffic and chaos. Long winter ahead as it fills in and eventually settles a bit. Thanks for the actual stoke!!
Historically the Alta snow report has been very accurate but I have also seen weird numbers lately, like today they are usually fixed. I think what is going on with the Alta reports is they are automated to update every hour using the Collins study plot which can have glitches but once a human steps in and looks at it they are fixed.
The Snowbird snow reports are historically the ones that drive me crazy! Look at today where Snowbird is reporting a storm total of 15" and Alta 12". The only automated site at Snowbird to look at on-line is the Snotel site at the top of the mid-gad lift which can be found be clicking HERE.
The total depth on the Collins study plot went up by 10" with this storm which matches well with a 12" storm total taking settling into consideration. Looking at Snowbird Snotel site (which I know is not their official study plot) you can see the total depth change with this storm was 7".
I've noticed the inconsistency in alta's snowfall reporting since the marketing department took over those duties from patrol. It kind of annoys me since Alta's snowfall has historically been accurate and trustworthy. But oh well, things change and Alta gets radder. Not rad enough for Kevin, of course.
I'd put total snowfall closer to 6" judging by what I found in the sheep pen this morning.
I think the Alta boys finally invested in a dehumidifier that they're running above the snow board. That thing strips 5% water content from every snowflake and artificially inflates the measured numbers. They got the idea from the Bird I hear. That or both resorts have managed to enhance the NW flow in a really small zone around their instruments.
The UAC says 7-11" which matches all the SNOTEL readings.
Me think Kevin needs to learn how to multi-quote instead of padding his post-count, a full page of responses by an aggrieved teenager isn't something that should ever happen in this thread. And please don't respond to this K, you win, you're a better skier than me, etc...
Not sure how much snow there was but the skiing today sure was great. Only truly "wtf is happening" skiing I found was on yellow trail where I was hitting the rain? crust until I got around low notch.
Thought it was a much better pow day than last Friday :yourock:
Oh yea and what was that solo skier doing setting a skinner up the gut of superior as we headed out at like 1:30? Kevin?
