I thought we established years ago that all mags favor a useful bed in a truck. I certainly do. My point was that if someone insists on buying a short bed truck the RTT (which can be mounted higher than the one in the pic if desired) kinda makes sense.Quote:

Everyone's definition of useful is different. I don't need to carry a sheet of plywood, but it's convenient for shit to the dump or a dishwasher every 10 years.Quote:

surprisingly uneventful.
Electrify america is dog shit and half them work but at least there was no one there. Only saw 3 other cars over 7 charges charging. the model of drive 2-3 hours then 20 mins charging break is surprisingly nice compared to gas and go.
Thought this was interesting. Comparison of how cold weather effects different EVs. Unfortunately no Rivian in the comparison though.

Probably not enough data to list the Rivian (yet), but it'll be wild to see them post up the F-150 numbers when those are in. Apparently they take a BIG hit in cold temps.Quote:

Before I took too much stock in that range summary, I'd want to know what percentage started at the ambient temp vs heated garage, how many had snow tires, how many additional trips to the mountain, what interior temp was set, etc
^^ good points so I'll add context to my range findings.
-summer was on stock tires
-winter was on snow tires
-identical driving conditions in both cases (80% highway, 20% city work commute)
-Front Range Colorado, so cold, but not super cold
-car parked outside always
-climate control set at 70-72F year round. Heated seats and steering wheel usually on for the first ~15min of the 60min commute in the winter.
-car would preheat while plugged in to shore power in the morning, but not in the evening before driving home
I never really did anything to try to conserve power, just drove it like any other car and set the climate control where I was comfortable.
My Ionic 5 took about a 3-4% hit with studded winters and a bit less than 20% at -12*C. Summer range is about 460km, winter is about 350km at -12*C. At 0*C its about 400km. In the summer I never charge to 100%, now I only charge to 100% when I drive between my residences. As long as I can get between my houses on a charge (280km) I don't care.
I recharge when out of juice and don't pay attention to range driving around town everyday with snow tires and a rocketbox on my ev. Just like a gas car.
Unlike a gas car, my battery loses capacity over the years and that's what I worry a bit about.
I've been dreaming of a system like this for years. I was big into slot cars as a kid and when wireless phone chargers came out I immediately envisioned roads that can charge cars as they drive along. Now add piezo generators so the vibration of the traffic itself powers the system (in addition to other sources) and we're off to the races.

An electric F 150 went by me on a quiet street today. Those things are pretty damn loud for an electric vehicle.
