I think it’s a fair warning and it kept me off of it as I was about a 36 HI at the time. I played all the other courses at Bethpage many times and was on the Black as a spectator in 2009 for the US Open several days so I’ve seen it up close.

Boyfriend walked 18,000 steps, 8 miles and I walked 1,6000 steps.
Brutal course to walk.

I carry and walk black 2-4 times a year.
Every time I play, I get chewed up alive.
It’s like a bad boyfriend I keep going back to get hurt some more.
Physically and emotionally.
I normally hit somewhere 90-100.
At black, I shoot 117-123.
Playing 6,220 yard forward tee 76.8/150 slope rating is a no joke.
I’m hoping to hit low 100 one day.
If I ever break 100, I’ll be over the moon.
Luckily I’m a fast player so I have no problem keeping up with the group while I’m hitting 100’s.

I played it right before the 2002 US Open when the rough was torture. You had the use a PW to get anything in the second cut back into the fairway.
No doubt it’s a hard course and even more so to walk. Props NMC!
Do you still have to sleep in the parking lot to get on these days?

77 today on a pretty tough course today. No doubles one birdie.
I learned some things watching the LPGA ladies up close for 4 days and it’s naturally slowed my tempo down.

I was fool forever. Watched a Vokey vid a while back and finally got around to it.
Highly recommend all the Bob Vokey YouTube vids.
