Not been paying too much attention to it all, but I hadn't realized until yesterday that the double cab taco had such a long wheelbase. Parked next to one in my 100-series land cruiser yesterday. Maybe 1-2 feet longer wheebase. And maybe 2 feet longer overall (longer bed option?). Surprised...
They are same size as tundra and half usable space. And twice the price but, but, but rooftop tent and street cred!(I'm overlanding bro!)Quote:

Cab tundra he drove them for field work he had employees drive them , buddy said the milage was not that much different especialy with the 4.6, he got rid of the others and kept the latest tundra
I been driving them all on ski, raft, kayak, fishing shuttles, i do like the taco but at this point I like the tundra more
Recently bought a 2013 F150 XLT V8 with extended cab, 6.5' bed. Bought it as an upgrade from a 1998 Tacoma.
Wish I had kept the Taco for a daily driver honestly. It was a damn good truck.
The Ford is nice to have a ton of room, and the new technology like bluetooth stereo is pretty sweet. The gas mileage is total shit. Tough getting used to the full size. I also really miss having a manual. Damn thing won't slow down on hills even in 2nd gear.
To be honest, I'll probably be back in a Tacoma in a few years.
Judging by my scientific sampling of the Whole Foods parking lot, the quad cab Tundra is a rapidly growing alternative to the Yukon for the well-kept tennis moms in my area.
Until the M1-A1 tank becomes street-legal I'm guessing.

My '13 F150 got rear ended a couple weeks ago so I shopped around thinking a new pickup might be nice. Here's what I found:
Dodges-didn't look at them because I don't want a Dodge. From what I hear, cheaper than anything else out there. My buddy bought one last year and has had a lot of trouble covered under warranty.
Chevys-seemed nice. Rode nice. Higher priced than Ford and Toyota. MPG was on par with Ford. I've always been a Toyota or Ford guy so moved on.
'17 F150s are being discounted heavily so the '18s can show up. New trucks are really expensive in general. For the money, Fords destroyed Tundra at almost every level. If I spent about $20-25k over what I could sell mine for, I would gain a better audio package, an updated interior, and 1-2 mpg better. The new 10 spd transmission was cool.
I've got the 3.5 Eco in mine and average 16. On a good day at 65, I have seen 19 but it's rare. No problem towing anything I would tow (up to 6,000 lbs).
Tundras-more low end torque felt because of the transmission and gearing. That's it. I am truly a Toyota guy and went into process thinking I was buying a Tundra. Drove one after driving an F150. Broke my heart to admit if I was buying a new pickup, it wouldn't be a Tundra. The F150 drove better, interior on the F150 was nicer, power seemed better, power/towing specs and mpg were better, had more creature comforts and the backseat on the crew cab was better with a 6.5' bed.
Ultimately, I'm going to get my '13 fixed and drive it another couple years hoping Toyota has some major updates in the next 2-3 years.

Good to know. Empty I get a little over 17 at reasonable speeds, about 65, going up and down Parleys (well, really just coasting down). Cut that to 15 if I decide 75 - 80 is necessary on the up. It's kind of a dog at elevation and pulling those 3k feet though, I wanted the Eco to get significantly better mileage and power.... Gah. Trucks are so damn expensive. Ms. Swine got a sweet 2004 GX that gets 20 mpg on average (and was a smoking deal, as most old GX's seem to be), and is better off road. If I didn't have to haul wood and other shit....
