Here's a GSA accessory:

bigdude - yes it is very sad season, and while I did not know those who passed, I like to think they believed in keeping the sport fun. What other reason would we take such big risks? This thread is somewhat mean spirited but also a celebration of the ridiculous concept of hiking into dangerous territory, strapping planks to our feet, and shussing. I think it is healthy to keep it in perspective and laugh at ourselves, be it through the GSA or not.
Like it or not, none of us are as badass as we want to be. Thats why we keep searching and doing what we love. The GSA is on one end of the spectrum that thinks he is super badass, but is not even close. THAT IS FUNNY!!!
All this could be simmered down to "Lighten up, our time is short. Enjoy Life."
MiCol,
Go skiing.
I think most of us have been guilty, at some point, of having too much steeze relative to our skills. We're giggling at the GSA, because he really does take it to the next level; but we're also laughing at ourselves.
Besides, searching for the GSA at Whistler was super fun. Fingers crossed for Jackson next weekend.
I don't see this thread as derogatory, although I can see why some may take it that way. At the end of the day the guy is stoked on skiing and goes all over the continent chasing snow. That you have to respect. Does he look ridiculous with all of that gear while skiing in a resort, not to mention the cameras? Sure, but so what? It's all in good fun.
seriously, it's a whole new aspect to skiing. every day i go out, i'm gonna keep my eye out for the GSA. If i see him, then it becomes a clandestine monitoring operation.
+1
This thread is win.
Ok, my life is complete.
Only got to page 29. This really makes me wish I had more time to spend surfing the internet.
No, I'm pretty sure I'm laughing at him... The spectacle and the manhunt. Although I am fairly certain this will bite my karmic ass soon.
okbye
EDIT: I freely admit that I suck so my pleasure at this thread is not some kind of deluded notion of my grandeur. I just hide my suck better. Perhaps there is nobility in wearing your suck on your sleeve?
This thread is the very best and the very worst of TGR all in one. The creative humor and having someone like that popping up at ski areas across North America on cue was so over the top I doubt it will be repeated. At the same time the GSA has the resources to gear up to the max and travel at will all over the place which I admire. Hopefully his steeze is for himself and himself only. If that is true then he would laugh with us at this thread. People like that color the world we live in and make it fun wether it is intentional or not. Especially if they don't care what anyone thinks. In this world of political correctness it is nice to have a TGR type place where people can express themselves freely. At the same time doing it at someone else's expense and following them around is really toeing the line and is TGR at it's worst. Also it becomes counter productive as the more people pursue him the better the chance he will quit his steeze and it will be game up. Part of what makes this so fun is the mystery that he could show up anywhere.
Did someone say bacon?
Just when I thought this thread couldn't get any better....
This is my new catch phrase. Should I have that last beer? "Well, I'm training for Alaska." Fell over while putting on my skis. "I'm traing for Alaska". Wife asks why I left my dirty socks on the floor. "I'm training for Alaska". Do something stupid in front of the kids, or in front of anyone in society for that matter. "Well, I'm training for Alaska." Cop pulls you over for speeding. It really has endless posibilities and is funny to me and annoying to those around me. What more could I ask for.
Thank You GSA!!
^^ I like it. I think I'm training for Alaska also has good sticker/poster potential
You can also mix it up, someone else is annoying you in anyway or just hanging about to long, use it on them -- "Shouldn't you be training for Alaska"
According to Yahoo Telluride has gotten 100 FEET of snow since Jan 1. I fully expect the GSA to be swayed by articles like this so Tride mags better be on the lookout.

I would totally buy a "I'm training for Alaska" Sticker
We shall patiently wait for him at the gate for Mt. Rainier
Viva la GSA
Was skiing the slackcountry today with avi pack on back & fairly big camera pack on front. Buddy says, "hey carrying a lot of gear today Gary". I say "yeah, training for Alaska, the camera pack is filled with lead weights".
The holy spirit of the GSA has permeated my subconscious now. I feel monk-like (though I am still not worthy).
Hail GSA, he speaks the one truth and I heard this from him, the chosen one. "Trol"
Nay, fellow GSA disciples... I have spent too long lurking in the GSA's presence. He hath shown me that I must express my jongness by creating an account and posting in jonglike manners... so that I can truly learn his ways, and follow his path.
I too fear that another sighting is unlikely in the near future, for Alaska is as far as it is wide. In order to perhaps incite another appearance of The Great GSA, I offer this picture of my ex girlfriend as a sacrament of my faith.
In GSA we trust.

The GSA is likely en route to this weekend's destination!!
Seriously? Did you miss the thread where Superstar Punani pretended he was a jet-setting millionaire to ensnare some heifer willing to trade her snatch for a place to live for her and her kid? This is like a 2 on the 1-10 TGR Richter Scale.
Also, in that Alta dooshfest thread, one of the main toolbag characters compared one of the other main toolbag characters to the homophobe faux cowboys who strung up Matthew Shepherd on a barbed wire fence. That sort of histrionic shit is TGR at its worst. This is Banya-style comedy.
"I'm training for Alaska"
I like it
i would have read the whole thread but ....
i'm training for alaska.
