Went searching for Jamal in the mountains, alas my legs cut the trip up higher a little short. Amazingly warm day yesterday (65 degrees)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5d60dfb388.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6e79bf2acc.jpg

Fuuuuuuuuuck. I have never carried bear spray on Rattlesnake rides before this year, but now I do. I was just riding up there with my kid this weekend, and this scares the piss out of me, especially knowing mama bear griz is already getting into food trouble up there.
those bear tracks are neat. In a poop my pants kind of way, but neat
I have been carrying bear spray on my bike for awhile.
a couple of yrs ago my husband took a fall on the Skyline trail here in Jackson and his bear spray can got punctured by a rock in the fall.
It's so funny (he had his gopro on at the time) you see him crash and then hear a "tsssssssssss" he looks around, locates the bear spray leaking and tosses it
But in the meantime he got the stuff all over his hands and managed to tough his eye at some point. that wasn't as funny
Yeah the last year or two I have heard some claims of grizzly sightings low in the rattlesnake but haven't seen a lot of actual proof. But then it was just in the news and here are fresh tracks on a ride I was invited to but skipped because the weather sucked.
Plus there have been some overreactions to go with those unsubstantiated claims, like the guy who was flipping out on hikers because he was "tracking a grizzly in spring gulch" and they were walking in there. which is like, at the trailhead, and the picture of those tracks was pretty inconclusive and looked like black bear to me. Like look how obvious it is with those claw marks. At the same time, it is not surprising at all, and I figured they were in the upper rattlesnake regularly. Go out the other side of there and you're in the missions and blackfoot corridor and swans and bob marshall. plenty of them over there. I also saw some wolf tracks at the top of my nearby trail this spring. Which, yeah, neat.

Totally spaced and left my front wheel at home when I headed west for the holiday week
**doh**
Stopped by Fanatik and grabbed a Rascal for the day, great bike.
Absolute rocket ship when climbing; very capable on the descent but found the stance to be too upright on the descent for my liking. Linkage also is very firm off the top.
Killer dirt at Galbraith!!

Thunder is such a classic, pissed it took me 19 years to actually ride it! The Bullit lost a frame bolt the first time, so I ran the loop. Of course it didn’t make much of an impact that way so time marched on… Glad to finally pedal it!

What an awesome fall season up here in MT. I got off to a slow start riding this year. I skied through June then got waylaid all summer by the terrible smoke. But September hit, and its been full on awesome since. Bozeman trails have gotten crowded, and it pushed me to some new zones a bit outside the area. I had so much fun exploring and finding random rides where you can ride 2,000 vert plus and not even worry about seeing anyone. Great adventures every Friday afternoon. Also rode some with the NICA kids in September and that was super inspiring to me to get into better shape and improve my skills. Ben Cathro's videos were awesome on Pinkbike for improving my skills too. We don't have a lot of purpose built trails, but we got a lot of what mountain biking is all about to me. Getting away from it all, getting your bike to the top of a mountain and letting it rip to the bottom as fast as you can. Cheers to a great season. I realized I didn't take any pictures this fall, so I threw up one from last year to keep with the spirit of the thread.
West coast of Maui didn’t suck today. Many verts.

That looks tasty, wish I was riding in shorts and jersey. Is the traffic nuts or is it mellow, bike lanes? More pics from Maui please.
