It can be fantastic. Just be flexible and there will still be good skiing to be had.

If you're driving from CB to Gunni, I bet you're wrong. I live on the north side of Denver- there is no traffic.
However, it's all for naught in the summer when you have access to the best trails in the state (or country).... hopefully I'll be up there for a few weeks in July.
been a warm but windy day today. I didn't see any signs of dust last night or today but clouds are building and the wind is picking up it seems. I didn't ski today for the first time on an off day since Oct...just couldn't motivate. A nice day with the wife, kid, and dogs instead.
Psssshhhh! You drive to the TH? I just gotta brag cause I'm moving to within a few hundred feet of some great trail riding.
Our trail aren't dry yet though AFAIK. Maybe a few. But I'm getting the roadie out this week for sure.
Funny though, even though the snow sucks, I hear people (tourists) talking all the time about how great it has been on the groomers lately. And until today, the weather has been pretty phenomenal for drinking in the sun, which I just so happen to be an expert at.
Any first person Wolf observations? Was planning on leaving around 7 or 8pm, crashing in the truck, and schralping some pow solo if need be tomorrow.
snowing here right now, gunny won't be dry either...the next nearest biking is hours away. I'm thinkin we get maybe 2-3 inches and the skiing will suck again after a day and the bike trails will be wet/snow as well.
moving that close to the trails = win...damn i wanna bike right now, hah
LOTS of dust in the air up here this afternoon, really, really dusty
Anyone else in the Front Range notice the dust that's covered the foothills in the last few hours? I can't even see the mountains from my house- crazy.
no dust in frisco/breck and snowing hard with a slight breeze.
Really coming down in rifle now with ha-uge snowflakes. I'd say half an inch in diameter. Hopefully that'll pick up steam as it heads west. First snowfall of march....
despite all the dust in the air this afternoon, the snow that is falling is pretty clean. Hopefully we dodged that bullet.
Dumping in Vail right now, big fat flakes. It was snowing pretty hard up top at the end of the day and the skiing was slush on crust. Terrible.
Still snowing here at the Beav. Might report a decent total (4"?) tomorrow.
5 was a bit of a surprise, a couple on the valley floor. I didn't see any dust, at least not very much despite how dirty the air was yesterday. Cloudy and cold today with some off and on showers. After tomorrow the warm up is back on.
No dust, but plenty of crust under that 5". Cold all day so teh groomerz might ski nice tomorrow.
who got out yesterday and how was it? Looks like we're back to crazy warm temps this weekend (mid 50s here)
it could be worse...my friend emailed me pics from Mad River, which had to close this weekend....deeeepressing
Went to snowmass yesterday with the 5" report. There was a trace at the base, they must have had most of the precip come down as rain that low. It was solid ice. Up high the 5" was accurate, however, the base was solid ice. Blasting though the bumps almost blew me up because i was expecting 5" soft with the new snow but it didnt bond to the ice causing the snow to collect in the troughs and be completely blown off the tops of the bumps. We were able to find some good turns in the areas up top that weren't bumped out but overall the conditions were rough and difficult to ski. The base was rock solid.

Wolf Creek skied like a dream Monday. Easily 18 inches on upper aspects and hardly anyone there. Still getting fresh tracks 3 minutes walk from Knife Ridge Staircase at 3 p.m. Worth the drive from Colo Springs, $70 for a room and much much more. I can happily call it a season now.
What a crazy cycle. Thanks for creating/sharing the SWE graphs. Amazing to go from most snow in 30 years to least snow in 30 years in a matter of months. If it doesn't get wet in April, the December/January butthurt will seem petty compared to the summer drought direness.
