It's hotter than a whore house on nickel night

Man when we were tweens and young teens our mom took us to stay at a friends' house in Oklahoma severa summers while dad stayed back home and Minnesota working. We spent some time with our grandmother who was vey well off, but most if it was at mom's friend's historical society ancient house with only one window A/C unit in the living room/den downstairs. We slept upstairs and weren't even allowed to hang out in the A/C room during the day. Bed next to box fan i the window and turning the pillow over to the cool side. Usually just stayed up all night listening to the radio and sleeping 2-3 hours at dawn when it was coolest. Builds character LOL!

That town did have a kick ass public pool two high dives.. Good times

That’s a fucking nightmare. I mean, is that thing meant to inspire terror in children? It’s like a dime store flash but for the discount he’s a fucking total psycho. Like he sees you at the Whole Foods and tries to be friendly, but it’s just always really uncomfortable. Then you find out he works at the only good butcher shop in town. Every time you want a tenderloin roast, there he is, looking at you.

That was the *indoor* temperature. If I can get it below 70F overnight, I don't need to use the A/C. I was hoping that perhaps this year I wouldn't use it at all.

But I'm weak. And it's hot in here. :D

Ah. I keep my house at 75 but in the summer that does require my AC to kick in. Overnight I drop it to 70, then by the afternoon it will hit 76 and kick on.

Same, last 3 days 80+ in the house and the AC is on, likely for the next 6 weeks.

Neither, I travel there often though and talk to coworkers in Dallas almost daily. They said everything is so dry they are getting fires now and really getting worried about large wildfires.

Yeah dang my folks and sister live that way it’s been brutal. Called up My Folks they pulled their pontoon boat out of the lake cuz levels at the marina. I was gonna offer use of it. Public ramps open. Hit me up if you’re down that way.

86F in the house presently.

Getting new windows installed, so no A/C today.

The new windows are WAY better keeping the heat out, though - cool to the touch even with sun coming directly in.

Probably should have done this a decade ago. :rolleyes2

Helps for sure. I notice it more in the winter keeping the house warmer than the old single pane windows could.

Ran the heater the other day. And it tried to rain a few days later. Considered posting in the Turn thread.

50F tonight.

Got it down to 64F this morning in the house, currently 68F in the house.

Sounds delightful.

It rained here today. I almost forgot what that smells like.
I’m sitting on my front porch listening to the crickets. It’s quiet and dead still
I guess the heat makes this feel that much better

It’s gone from raining and 91. To the current 66 degrees. I’m going to sleep well tonight

75F in the house this morning... overnight temps apparently didn't get below 70F last evening, which is not low enough to get the house comfortable.

Window crew is back out today to finish up, so not sure I'll be able to run the A/C for most of the day.

Whoa, we got a sprinkle of rain here in the foothills and it looks like the Sierra got real amounts of rain
