Google the "dollar bill test." Do that, and if you need a gasket I recommend purchasing an OEM one for your specific stove. In my experience they are higher quality than generic replacements. Both will seal, but you'll get a longer useful life out of the OEM gaskets.Quote:

Moving the old cast iron fucker was a bitch. I think it weighs 500# or more. It will go in the yard as some sorta planter art piece.

i moved a lot of rounds this afternoon prepping for the deluge of the weekend.
It might not be the gasket. Could always see light at gasket even with new. Replaced part of closing mechanism with home made and its way better. Will try again to get some real compression on gasket.Quote:

So NTR (name that run) was started 5 years ago as some kind of silly marketing extravaganza where you could win a contest & name a new ski run, managments concept of how much work it was gona take to cut a ski runh was slightly off
So last Saturday we assembled a big/diverse (cops to old hippies) crew of pretty much old fuckers including a couple of ex-fallers up at the ski hill to push the new ski run thru and we got er done
Its kind of ironic that the only skiers who have ever been dumb enough/tuff enuff to showup & run saw for the new ski run are some old backcountry skiers who arent allowed to tour there
I had my 1st problem on my not so new sthil 261, after 2 years the oiler quit oiling, so I watched some you toob vids, took stuff apart, fiddled about and found the end of the pump drive that fits in the slot on the clutch hub was worn thru, so I just need to buy the part and slip it in ... google is your friend for saw repair eh?
edit: The part was a 3.27$ grip clip with a stub that fits into the clutch hub worn 3/4 way thru, I think that clip could be taken off and flipped over to be used until the stub wore off entirely

Just about shit myself when I listened to this again just now. The Mcready brothers are 100km E of Prince Rupert. That's pretty much at the Shames Mountain turn off on Hwy 16.
Ran the splitter for another 1/2 cord Sunday and the old man gave us at least a quarter cord of dried applewood he's had for 30 years.

I need to borrow a log roller/peavey. I think a friend has one to loan. I've been using a rock bar with split rounds as folcrums (or just my shoulders amd legs) in really soft forest floor to roll my big logs when bucking. My body is feeling well used today.
I just finished cutting about 2 cords from the National Forest and brought it home for the winter. I'm kind of surprised I cut all that oak and maple on the same chain. Now it's time to split and stack it. Up next is cutting wood for the cottage

I have been working in a wood yard lately. Mostly prepping logs for the wood processor and bucking juniper logs that are too ugly to go in the machine. Trusty stihl 440 with a fresh new oem top end. Listening to a ton of podcast and getting a workout.
