All lifts supposed to be open today at Louise. Usually the best turns of the season on Ptarmigan and Larch their first day.
And Sunshine finally opening Standish. At that rate the Dive will be open in April.

wicked, thanks for the beta shorty and t2c !
any idea what the rain/freezing level is at RMR for this weekend? just hoping that the rain left cold, and it has snow on crust, or just snow all the way to the top....
friends are thinking about going form banff, but 4 hours each way, plus hotel might not be worth it? or might be amazing...
Post in the BC Interior thread. I'm guessing that one of the homeboys has already done some lift-serviced skiing on the hill. AlexC?
Anyone have any first hand info on this?? By the way it's worded sounds like it might have been inbounds??

Posted Thursday, November 24, 2011: Shortly after 10:00 a.m. an avalanche was triggered by skiers and snowboarders at the Lake Louise Ski Area. Prior to confirming that all parties were safe, an immediate search was conducted of the area.
After an extensive search led by the Lake Louise Avalanche Control Team, Parks Canada, and a rescue dog, all parties have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported.
Not really first hand, more like second hand, as in I was standing first in line waiting for TOW to open when patrol came and told us it would be a while, as they all had to report to an inbounds slide on Ptarmigan. Sounds like it was on that first steeper knoll at the top of exhibition, just as it is funelling down from the kind of open bowl to the narrower run, as the sparse trees start on the skiers right. Again, all second hand knowledge.
Anybody know what they did end up opening in the afternoon? Had to take off for work before anything opened. Kind of hoping that some things got left closed (that I can hit tomorrow) to reward my standing in line for almost an hour this morning for nothing...
^damn...glad no one was hurt.
Yeah, especially considering at first they weren't sure if anybody was buried. Could have been MUCH worse. Apparently it went to ground, but I didn't hear how far it ran.
Anyone have an idea if fernie is worth it for the weekend? checking the webcams the snow line appears to have at least dropped a bit, and maybe a bit more tonight
Would like to do banff but long days trip from lethbridge
Going to be a busy day with the only real skiing off the Bear and ALL the Fernie season passers coming out, plus Kimberley passholders who get to ski for free.
Fernie's a powder gangbang even when all the lifts are open.
Having said that, I might go Sunday with low expectations and the hope the first-day crowds have dispersed.
Crazy about LL glad no one was hurt. There were Two slides on WaWa ridge today too. Not sure if it was natural or skier triggered either.
Standish opened today. Tons of sharks and one that made me do my first double or triple front flip
some quick cam shot stoke

wawa was natural, no one involved...
Hey, can you still order the PX15 brakes (120mm) through Soul please? Not having much luck finding them used and would rather avoid having them shipped from state side with the random customs / credit card fees etc ontop. $75ish is fine got cash in hand, problem is it's with me 800kms away right now. Back next Wednesday night..... Can give it to you before you order or when I pick up, either works fine. Let me know :yourock:
No reports from the lake today? Looked tasty this morning on webcam...
Is it worth using one of my few powder-day clause days tomorrow?
Did Kicking Horse really get as much as they're reporting?
100cm in 48hrs?!
Yes! im bootpacking at the horse right now and its insane how much snow there is. been dumping and dumping and dumping. someone was saying only 45 in the pass? supposedly opening just for the weekend next weekend and then all-systems-a-go from the 9th onward?
Singel,
Came early. They opened most of the mtn. Then the avi in the morning and they shut most of it down. Eventually they let ppl on TOW. The summit T and the back are still full of waist deep pow (barely skied) and I assume they will be open tomorrow. Front side was getting tracked out by the time I left. Had to hike for good snow or ski tight trees.
It was very good.
Ooo-rah. Going to the lake in the morning. Gonna be sick.
Better not break a leg or I will be pissed for 6-8 weeks.
I'm booked at the hostel and going to RMR for Saturday only (returning Saturday night). Snow totals look like a lot less than forecasted, but WTF, I'm going to check it out. Snow totals at Fernie scare me because I've been burned there before and I'm not willing to risk a wasted day driving down there.
I wish I was at Louise today, though.
Check out this link, its very silly but worth the look........ Introducing the ishread snowboard!!!
Lol... Maybe the link would help. http://signalsnowboards.com/blog/ett-ishred
Well. Google it. They need to approve first. Ishred.
