Wow! Silly. Would love to find the liters of Weller 12yo that used to sit on the shelf at your shop and others w/o any love for about $35 today. In hindsight, that was good shit. Those days are long gone. You guys thinking of buying any barrels soon?
Anyone catch that bastardized version of Bourdain's No Reservations show that's now on cnn? They had a Charleston episode this season which featured chef Sean Brock and Bill Murray. I spend a good amount of time in Charleston, and have eaten at Brock's restaurants many times and have always been impressed by his available bourbons... But, what the fuck is this guy's "good bourbon" allocation like so that he can carry his own personal stash of Pappy, AC and other rarities in a fucking plastic travel bottle at ALL TIMES!?! And at the amount he drinks!?!

At Mike, those were the days weren't they? We used to buy those liters for like sixteen bucks off the local distributor's close out list because they couldn't sell them. Oh, and Bmills is talking about the buff trace antique collection.
Yup, like Cruiser said, Antique Collection. Sean Brock's pocket bourbon is better than most's "lock and key" stash. At least he appears to share. A lot.Quote:

I picked up something here in Japan that I haven't seen in the states. Four Roses Ultra Premium. I think it was probably the single barrel that is sold in the U.S. I live about 3 miles from the Kirin Distillery. They have a NICE gift shop. 1200Yen to 50000Yen. Mostly Japanese single malt stuff. If I remember right, Kirin owns Four Roses.
Was in SLT this weekend and popped into Dart to take a look. They had (have?) 1 bottle of Pappy 15 on the shelf.

Cracked the Stagg last night. 138.2 proof this time around. Last one was around 121. Full strength is tasty, but will put hair on your chest; more alcohol than I like. A splash of water really opens it up and makes for a damn fine sipper.
First run at bottled in bond Old Forester. On the rocks is solid. Spicy, nice flavor. Price is right. I will be a return customer. What are the thoughts of the collective about Old Portrero rye from Anchor?
I love watching those guys. Went to Husk for lunch on Monday on my way to the airport. Can't wait to get there for dinner! I didn't realize until I was leaving that there was a separate menu of "fine" bourbons, but even the regular list was pretty nice. Had a Woodford Double Oaked with my dessert and found it to be absolutely fantastic for that kind of pairing.Quote:

I really, really, really wanted that rye. But I grabbed the 10 yo, we'll taste it tonight. You might want to check your local outlets (and kiss some ass) to see if they got a shipment.
I am on a mission to make Amaretto cool with hipsters so we can afford good bourbon again.

So I've been trying the Old Rip van Winkle 10 yo that I got upthread. It's a nice wheated bourbon, really pretty pleasant, but not quite as good to me as Booker's, Blanton's or Four Roses single barrel, all of which set me back about 35-45% less $$.
Oh well, nice to know that. I'd really rather have had the PVW rye.
