It's called commando bowl.
The wind was whipping hard again, heard it was firm. I didn't feel as motivated as these folks today.

Beaver Creek was as bad as I've seen it all year....crazy firm wind trashed boilerplate. Drank alot of beer at RedTail then found some chalky bumps on Grouse. Then finished it off at the Boot for more beers. REALLY need snow.
The spot that slid that I was talking about it actually to lookers left of Commando Bowl. I have checked it out for a number of years on google earth and topo maps and the drainage goes towards the highway. It's the next ridge over and doesn't go back to silk road. Looks really awesome and I'm sure it's skiable but I personally have never seen a track out there in my life. I think its a big pita to get outta there and flattens quick.
Skied 3 laps in EV today, saw 2 other groups. 1 run in Benchmark, worst death crust I have ever seen, 1 run in watertower, 1 in the chute skiers left of watertower (I forget the name). Watertower was fun, at least we had fun, decent snow in the dark timber and not wind effected. Overall awesome day.
I keep thinking it looks like dirt blew onto the snow in my backyard. Hoping there isn't a snirt layer higher up on the mountains?
Such doom and gloom here..
we've been skiing relatively well here, albeit I was at Buttermilk most of the weekend. Looking forward to see what this next system brings.
This week could have a lot of snow...but also a lot of wind on Tuesday. Sucks, but that's the deal. The Thursday/Friday storm could be good as well.
It appears that almost every inch of every mountain around the Vail Valley was hit with the wind...sure there are a few protected areas, but it really, really hurt. Hoping the wind dies down later Tuesday afternoon and we get a few inches of non-wind-blown fluff late Tuesday.
JOEL
has this wind kicked the BP WP area as bad?
Some of the high-alpine at Breck was still holding some good snow yesterday. Whale's Tail and Y Chute were smooth, chalky and skiing well. Other areas up there were definitely wind-fucked though.
I'm sending you guys a PM with coordintes so some JONG doesn't Google Earth them and jump off Cathedral Cornice or something and die or make it into and institute or something.
