I'm disappoint myself.
Too much work and too many people visiting me to sneak away. Hopefully the snow keeps up, might be able to sneak down there in March.

Coverage a Taos is really quite fantastic. And pretty much deserted all weekend.
Even the southeast facing steeps (Sir Arnold Lunn, Lorelei Trees) were in great shape.
¡Viva el Niño! :D
I pulled up at 815 yest and watched the lot fill to capacity and start parking on the road by 9 am, so wouldn't call it deserted. But someone did say the trails weren't crowded.
Today should be more sparse.
Something doesn't add up - we arrived at 9:30 and parked in the lower lot. There was a pretty good line at 1 at 9:45 when we stashed our shoes in the locker room and booted up. But by the time we got up around 10 the line at 1 was completely gone.
None of the other lifts were crowded either - I was expecting the worst at 2 after we warmed up on the front side, but it was ski-on.
I guess everything is relative, but it was deserted. And after noon it was a ghost town.
Hike-to's were $$$ both days. And let's not even talk about North American/Ernie's. :D
Glad you had a great time. Get in touch if on the hill again. Super chill here today. Perfect weather.
Good times out of bounds today. Lots of snow back there...

Nice Jeb. Smooth pow
50 plus every afternoon down in town for the foreseeable future. Pleasant living. Hill is skiing smooth. Tons of sun.
Pretty mundane question, but kinda conflicting info on the webz... is the Taos town to TSV bus running? If no, any shuttles or the like? Could 2 of us reliably hitch up?!
Wanna stay in town, but wife isn't skiing and prefer not to have her shuttling us up and back.
Thx much!
Stay near the town center. Your wife can walk everywhere she needs to go. You take the car up. It has always been warm enough in town to be good pedestrian weather when we visit.

I haven’t ridden it, but I saw the bus running last week. OTOH I usually pick up hitchers at or after the old blinking light. I don’t usually drive thru town so I don’t know about that.
Edit: and this.

Hey Taos mags. Heading there first weekend in March with some buddies. Others are ikonic, but I’m without. Is there any line on discounted tickets or should I just do the buy in advance $$$$?
Never been and stoked to check it out, but not stoked on that day tix price!
Thx all! Yep will give a call but sounds like bud is a no-go this year. I like the idea of staying right in town and she can walk around. Thx!
I'll be at Taos the first Tuesday and Wednesday of March. Was planning on staying in my van at the resort but looks like they're only allowing overnight parking on the weekends this year for "ongoing improvements". Are any of the campgrounds on the road from Taos to TSV open early March? Or am I SOL?
I've been vanning all winter out a long the airport road. Also, they just plowed the lot across the road from the entrance. That's usfs. Chief of police told me all good there up to 14 days . It's 50feet from the parking.lot.
They can be neighbors

Also I've seen multiple times ppl pull in park overnight no paying w no enforcement
High altitude fitness in El Prado is 60$ a month or 13$ a visit. Shower/hot tub/sauna/ full gym 25 min from hill
NSR: what’s the hot spring beta? Staying up near the resort next week. Which, if any, nearby springs are worth a visit?
Was in Taos for the last 2 months. Did not bother to go to natural hot sori
Springs. Heard they kinda sucked and are a pain in ass to get to. Parking at the Dunn bridge and walking to one is an option. I drove down there and it was a ghetto scene w drunks at 9 am at trailhead. One encounter though. The hot tub at the gym is nice. 103 clean and 20 feet from your car
Thanks all, sounds like we’ll probably skip that chase.
Got a group of 10+ guys getting together with ski days Saturday through Tuesday, looking forward to some fun.
How are conditions in general? Looks like TSV pretty got missed last night with a few inches expected today. Heading to the area end of this week and hoping for at least a little bit of leftovers from this storm and a little bit of fresh beginning of next week.
50.deg rock hard car sized moguls w stumps and rocks w 2 inches over it.
I’m thinking this going to be one of those crazy windy springs we get here lots of times. It’s howling right now.
Shot down there sun night in hopes of a good Mon and Tues… instead eked out a day at Angel fire then headed home today defeated… Mother Nature bats last
Heading to Taos tomorrow. Looks like the snow conditions won't be super great. Do the hike to runs off the top get smoothed out by wind, etc or will everything off the top be firm and moguled out by now?
Probably kind of firm and moguled - but I’m not sure what you mean by “moguled out.” The weather’s getting warmer so you shouldn’t be expecting ice - it’ll likely soften up as the day goes on and there’s a chance of a storm later this week.
If you don’t like bumps, Taos may not be your cuppa.
