Turx, this is a screaming deal and you should jump on it. 9/32" is 0.28" and plenty of life. All Subies use the same bolt pattern and foresters and outbacks all had the same tire size through 2008. Should last you 3 seasons easy - you can drive them down to 6/32 before you might want new snow tires. Studs are legal in CA Nov through May, and they drive fine on dry roads. Pre-mounted means easy on and off as long as you have storage room for a full set of wheels and tires.

I'd be running those tires if they fit my legacy. Way cheaper than new.

^ question: is there not enough clearance due to Legacy having shorter springs? Because I know the bolt pattern is the same.

I believe it is a legacy thing and is related to the springs. We have a 2000 legacy l wagon. I remember that the same model year outbacks are taller than our legacy. These tires/wheels came off a subi. They are on subi-branded wheels.

Fun day skiing around KW with the kiddo and wife. Excellent snow. The semi tracked areas in the saddle and Pali were fun, but the bumps on rabbits were awesome. Mostly fun watching my kid rip it up around the hill.

Fun tour today. We found excellent cold, fast goodness.

Fun getting out to Silver Peak for the first time - definitely a slog to get out there but would love to go back with a stable snowpack and ski some of the steeper terrain in that zone.

On that note, we dug a hasty pit and everything slipped off that dec 15 layer without much effort at all - plus cracking. It's going to get sketchy with this next wave of storms.

There is a ton of terrain back in that area when the conditions are right - particularly NW off the summit. Lot of starting zones in that NE cirque of trees, and some obvious slide paths to avoid.

Personally I think that is a super fast approach ripping up the road with some easy shortcuts (which makes for a very easy exit), but I know others enjoy the straight up approaches of other zones.

^^ Low coverage so no shortcuts on the approach or exit currently, unfortunately. 5-10 days from now should be a different story, fingers crossed. I'm also out of shape right now due to some knee tendinitis that kept me off the bike for the past 2 months, so "slog" is relatively speaking.

Well the hype is here. Even if we only get 25% of what's forecast, the skiing should be good this week just as the out-of-towners are heading back down the hill.

Damn, that forecast is much more snow than the NWS forecast for Mammoth next week. I hope it delivers for you guys.

NOAA is a bit more conservative on their forecast

10 was wind blown bliss this afternoon. Lower mountain groomers were fast and grippy. Add a little dust and it is going to be the tits.

They lifted the policy before the first snows this year (with the new gm i would guess). It just took a while to update the web site. At that point when I talked to security there was no mention of the three dogs with me. Although that would have been preseason.

Interesting. Seems like a positive development.
