Ha! Yup. Living at the base I've skinned and hiked that peak countless times, solo for many of them once tsv shut down, so I just have an intimate connection to that peak. Seeing the lift feels like I got stabbed in the thigh. I'm over it! :biggrin:Quote:

They were up last week for the storm, but I couldn’t make it. My brother sent a few jealousy inducing pictures of early laps on Stauffenburg, Oster, Juarez, etc. They left Friday so missed the Kachina opening.
From 2019 last trip I made out, had a similarly big storm then bluebird.

I totally get the anger at the katchina lift thing. We had the same thing happen here. I figure it is a happy medium to open the hike a day or two before the lift after a storm. Then you get the best of both worlds. Katchina is pretty fun to just lap from the lift on hard pack when it hasn’t snowed in a while though.
Either way, it’s a fun mountain, you guys are lucky, and I hope it snows a lot more.

Talked to some friends down there and sounds like part of the delayed openings were for private access.
Lineup for the hike up Kachina? I was. There was a lot of tracks from the chairlift that were not there the day before. They were not your normal patrol cuts.Quote:

On the same note of visiting next week, where has the best green chile in Taos? Obviously NM is the mecca for green chile in general but it's my favorite food group and trying to get the best! haha
