visited 49N today; all snow gone except for a few north-facing patches up high;
i hiked the chair line, looking for smack, crack or cash; nada
sherman peak still looks good ......
after a week of 80+ temps and isolated rain,

If you head west Washington Pass is in slushy but good shape.
Anything fun up on Stevens Peak is probably done for now - went up yesterday. Melting quick with 80's in town.
Selkirk crest should offer turns for awhile longer. Cabs are still good also.

Approach to Mt Adams on Saturday.
Skied the South West chutes at 12:30 in perfect corn conditions.
Never skied a foot 3000 ft descent with such a perfect, constant angle.
Getting out though, 2 hours of primo bushwacking. Skis on, skis off, about 19 times..
10 1/2 hours, tired today.

Hiked lookout twice last Saturday with some friends. Good snow to be had for the first turns of the year. About 2 feet at the top but very little at the bottom and obviously no base is set yet. They need another 2 feet before opening weekend.

Is St. Regis basin typically covered up enough to be skiable on lookout opening day?
Some spots yes, others, no.
I don't think any mountains other than Schweitzer will open this weekend. If they do it'll be Saturday. Although if they hold out to next week it looks like we will get a lot of precipitation and an epic opening day

How about the standard ESE run that you can access easily. Take chairlift, ski backside, skin for about an hour and drop in, but not from the top(big open run, further away).Quote:

Crushed Silver Mtn today with SkiLyft and his non mag buddy. Really fun conditions. 4”new with deeper in wind loaded locations. Found some turns that were mid shin deep. Super fast, soft and karvy with excellent visibility. SkiLyft kills it and his buddy spent more time in the air than in snow.
Poked around under Wardner, 2’ of snow sitting on 8” of sugar to the ground. Scary AF. If this is a good indicator of the conditions in our area, when something goes it’s gonna go big and to the ground.
Also hit silver today. Great conditions and blue skis. I think I saw someone on some billygoats with 2FUNKY that was killing it
