Electric Bike Thread

The cool thing about my bike is you could ride it to a bar (or dispo), chain it up, and if you're too fukked up to ride it home, it folds up and fits in the trunk of your Uber. I also fucked up my shoulder real good and the high rise handlebars put a shitload less starin on my torn everything in that shoulder compared to my other two bikes. It rides quite nicely without the pedal assist. I got it fairly cheap, as the battery was bad, and haven't found a cheap enough one to throw down for it yet. Those batteries are expensive.

I’d tow that around everywhere I think, just in case. Be great for camping with a trailer or RV . Trying to drive my truck as little as possible right now with gas prices here

Alibaba . You can find all sorts of batteries there for ebikes, around 200-300 dollars shipped

I always wonder wtf would happen if they just took your money and nothing showed up? I mean, they're in China no? Is there even any kind of framework for conflict resolution when alibaba deals go wrong?

China and Russia are so massive. One lake in Russia has 1/5th of the Earths liquid fresh water. Global Power is resources. We are being replaced in the Globalist model. Right now we are the consumers, but China, India, and Russia ultimately are the real players and they don't really have to give a shit about the US in the long view.

I find it ends up being more about communication issues than thievery
then add in the extra complexity of shipping batteries as someone asks above
my husband was working with an intl drone company and getting the batteries was always a PITA- they cd only be picked up at the actual DHL facility or some added complication
so take that into account if you are buying for like, someone's birthday and you need it within a typical expectation of time......

unitpackpower has been pretty reliable for me and others, and have a pretty good reputation among the ebike builder community. They also have an ebay site, if you prefer.

Actually, when you buy batteries in China, they ask you if you want Japanese or Chinese cells. Then they assemble them.

The cheap ones typically cut corners. Either with the charger or the cells themselves. That has potentail for failure or worse yet, fire.

Yeah, that's the current party line, and likely true. My point is that we don't know to what extent the potential is for failure or catastrophic failure/fire hazard, especially since there's probably heterogeneity between the types of Li-ion batteries being used. I suspect that more "reputable" end-sellers like UPP at least try to use more reputable batteries whether they source from Japan/Korea or China.

Just ordered a 500w mid-drive and 48v 12.8ah battery. Stoked to convert my commuter for winter ugly riding.

Got my haibike nduro 10.0.

Unbelievable. Downhill is so much more fun since I'm not tired at the top.

My normal 3 h ride took 2 1/2, with 30 percent less calories expended.

This is the volkl katana if mountain bikes.

I have to say, i was worried that the 53 lbs haibike would be cumbersome, but i found it quite maneuverable, didn't feel the weight on the down,. Except it seems to accelerate like crazy.

True, i prefer to stay on the ground and plow thru everything, rocks, etc. Though i also like to get air off rocks and small features.

I couldn’t find the vid. Can’t remember if it was posted on the forum here or not. It was an experiment at a dr office. In the waiting room one unsuspecting patient shows up and takes a seat. An occasional buzzer would sound and everyone would stand up for a second before sitting back down for no reason other than a mysterious buzzer. Eventually the unsuspecting patient ,that took the last seat , started following everyone else standing. Even after, one by one, they took all the other actor/patients were taken away. She stood by herself after every buzzer. Enter a new patient , he also started standing for no reason but following the first unsuspecting patient. Sheeple.
