Somebody needs to step up and make the new thread. Because this is too much drama. I cant handle it and am thinking about just sleeping until Halloween.
Waiting for the Big Al shoe to drop. I might give up on tge NBA. I want another Boston Dynasty. This is not how we get there. Nor is the current salary cap apron weirdness ever going to allow it. I knew it, it's all just to thwart Boston. Ima go to bed now.
Love this. Stoked the nugs were able to get off MPJ’s massive contract and I think Cam Johnson is an upgrade over MPJ. I was over watching MPJ’s multiple mental lapses.
Getting Bruce Brown back on the vet minimum is awesome as well. Dude was a huge part of that championship team.
Bucks signing Turner and waiving Dame (via the stretch provision). That's HUDGE!
And the Nuggets just traded Dario Saric -- who apparently is still breathing -- for Jonas Valunciunas. That is a big get, and Jokic finally has a legit backup!
Hard to keep up with all the news!
Sounds like Giannis isn’t happy about the bucks waiving Dame, but stealing Turner from the pacers is a good pick up.
Also stoked to see Jokic will have a real back up next season, and like Danny says they basically give up nothing in saric. Denver’s new front office is doing a great job a few days into the job imo

Yeah, they are crushing the offseason so far
They didn't really give up Turner, he was a FA. But (supposedly) they weren't willing to go into the luxury tax next season when the team wasn't going to be a contender without Halli. Rumor is their final offer was $4M/yr less than the Bucks.
As for whether Giannis is unhappy, I have no idea if that is true. Maybe his team is weaker in 2027, but it absolutely is stronger in 2026 now.
Lakers get Ayton. Can't wait to see Lebron's reactions to Ayton loafing.
Lakers signing dominayton is pure comedy. Don’t think it makes them any better and surprised that dude can still make $30+ million a year.
Would be great to see the Celtics sign Dame and for him to play 26/27 on the Bucks nickel. Could be his best road to a ring. Celtics are taking a gap year and will be a real threat in 26/27.
Love Dame but he’s cooked. Kobe was a year younger when he tore his Achilles.
Nuggets losing JV puts them in position to offer Horford more $ than Lakers or Dubs

I might give up watching the NBA.
Any financial constraints there? We know the Nuggets owners are cheap.
Here's one I have been thinking/laughing about: Is there a possibility of Jonas Valunciunas and Jokic sharing the floor for any sort of "double big" minutes?
Dame back to the Blazers, what a terrible move.
While it’s a nice story to bring Dame back to Portland to finish his career, it seems like the blazers are hampering themselves from a team building and luxury tax perspective. Now they have two 35+ guards that are making a ton. Plus they’re gonna pay dame around $14 mill to sit on the bench this season plus whatever they paid dominayton in the buyout.
Beal to the clippers was also an interesting “trade” or whatever you call it. Not sure it makes the clippers any better, but I have no faith that Kawhi will stay healthy or Harden can perform in the playoffs. Crazy how these players go from making $25-35 mil a season to $10-15 mil but I guess it’s easier to take a pay cut when your former team has to still pay you millions….
Even the thunder with their maxing out j-dub and chet seems like it’s going hurt in the coming years. (I know those contracts don’t kick in for a year) but how are they gonna field a 12 man roster when 3 players alone are gonna eat up 70% of your allowance before the first apron limit????
Interesting time in the NBA for sure….
Dame is double dipping now and the blazers are gambling he'll be an OK player , that's what you get for $14 mil a year. He could end up being a bust post recovery but just local PR alone will be worth the salary and he gets to be near his kids.
Obviously I'm a total fanboy of Dame/blazers but there are much worse deals that happen and this one definitely has some potential upside.
Most fans here recognize the Blazers won't have a realistic chance at a ring unless they get unbelievable lucky in 3-4 consecutive drafts so being in the playoffs and a run every few years is about what is expected.
.
Teams are definitely having to make hard decisions. Those waive and stretch teams are going to feel that for a while to come. The Pistons did that with Josh Smith years ago, it sucked watching them take that dude’s salary onto the cap for five years.
Nowadays it’s going to hurt even more with the aprons and penalties. It’s already seeming to become a league of haves and have nots. The top guys are going to command a large part of any team’s cap and figuring that out will become an art (It already is).
I’ve already noticed it seemed a large part of the Shams tweets this cycle were for dudes I’d never heard of. Teams filling out their rosters with lower level contracts. The top guys are still breaking records with bigger and bigger contracts and the lower guys are left with smaller deals.

The Blazers claim to fame is making the shittiest choices possible. Lillard was a decent point, but very far away from a title winning franchise player. Just when I thought the Blazers were on track to rebuild smartly...Theyll be unwatchable ...again
