Does Ned really have the money to buy a ski mountain? They don't even seem to have the money to fix the roads through town.
^^ fair question... but pretty exciting if they can pull it off. Way better than vail or going back to the days of miserly private guy ownership
I doubt it, I read it as they formed a group of locals and trying to figure out how to nail down a deal. Im not a local but I do spend alot of time up there, so far the reaction I hear is very positive. Good luck to them, I support putting the hill under local community control. Summer activities with concerts, hiking and downhill mt biking would kill it, but you have Boulder county........
They can annex Eldora into the town of Ned and setup a TIF district. Issue bonds for the purchase and payoff the debt from property and sales tax income. Cities and towns do this all the time to be able to afford nice things.
I'd be very surprised if Alterra doesn't have a Right of First Refusal.
I would love us all to have an Eldora that gives a shit.
Windora earning the name today but skiing pretty dam well.
Dang, DFC (dead fucking calm) at Copper.

anyone been up Jenny Creek Trail (or know anyone who has)? Need to get some skinning in and wondering if it is filled in enough to stretch the legs out there (then make some turns after of course). Edit: nordic center is still closed so no access yet, boo.
Danno - I assume you mean the full Jenny Creek trail, and not the daytime Eldo uphill route that uses a bit of the JC trail? I don't know firsthand re the former, but between the amount of snow and likely usage, I'm guessing its pretty well covered. Just a question if its been mostly skinned/nordic'd (great!) or snowshoed (a mess). But the eldo uphill tracks are super solid, and open 7am till close. If you go early, just check your ego at the lodge cuz its mostly lycra-clad skimo dorks! Man, eldo is skiing great! Fingers crossed
Yeah, the actual Jenny Creek Trail is what I was asking about, if I'm skinning I'd prefer to be away from the resort. But... since it is not open yet I may just do the resort uphill, or may head to East Portal.
Got a hut trip coming up and need to do some training, plus my GF is completely new to skinning so we need some practice time.
Happy "corona is open so you can ski wayback day". But hey, progress is progress.
If you want to find the best skiers on the mountain, you might want to take a good hard look at who’s skiing wayback and lower around the horn. Steeps. Now there’s something you don’t buy, you earn. That’s something you don’t talk about at the bar, about how badass your wayback run was. That’s because everyone saw it, it was right there, under Indian Peaks. There was nothing to hide, nothing could help you.

The proof is in the pudding, or the surface your edge job is going to be for, as it were
Yeah I was out there on this day last year and didn't look at terrain but figured something had to be open if the chair was spinning. I asked the lifty and he laughed and said "wayback!" as the chair swung around. Lesson learned
The condom is the best addition.
So, is that where the actual clusterfuck happens?
Shacking up right.
I wonder if any of the B-52's were skiers/riders.

The snow stake is showing close to a foot right now.
