I made good money on a boat I used for 6 years. Could have made more, but I sold it to family. Didn't have to list it, show it, put up with the general public, etc. Of course, anything that goes wrong with it, I am the first call, but that is fine. I know that thing inside and out and he is not mechanical, so I will be talking to a marine tech most likely.

I was in the local Yamaha/Suzuki dealer a few weeks ago and the owner told me that Yamaha said it would take them 6 years to get their supply chain all the way sorted and Suzuki wasn't even taking his calls. He may be tripping but he sells engines and he doesn't have any to sell, I have a feeling he knows what he's talking about. 6 years does sound crazy though.

I feel like there's gonna be a used boat glut 3 or 4 years from now.

All the assholes who bought a Covid boat and then realized they don't use it and how much it costs to keep, will start looking to dump their boats and this market we're in now will completely reverse. That'll hold true for all the toys you can't buy right now, quads, side-by-sides, 'skis, sleds, motorcycles... etc. Mark my words.

I saw many, many COVID boats/boatowners last week in Lowcountry. Many laughs were had. Best was the guy who beached his new Grady White on the sandbar at high-ish tide and thought that was a good time to take a walk down the marsh with his girlfriend and dogs only to come back with the boat completely stranded 7-8’ above the waterline.

They stuck it out all afternoon (likely drinking and letting the dogs roast in the sun with no provisions), and when we passed them again just before sunset they apparently had enough. Seatow was there just idling feet from them ready to yank (which they did) when all they had to do was wait 30-40 more minutes and save themselves the $1,000 tow.

Be wary of a 22’ish slightly used Grady White with a lovely pale blue hull for sale in the Sullivan’s Island area next spring.

Our boat had the honor to be the lead navigation boat for an open ocean 38-mile marathon swim attempt around Mount Desert Island, Maine. The female swimmer followed our plotted route, flanked by kayaks and paddleboarders, and made 22 miles in 11 hours of constant swimming from 7:30pm, through the night, until she was pulled from the water by her medical team at 6am due to hypothermia from the 60 degree ocean water. She is fine and swam the equivalent of crossing the English Channel. Proud of the effort and to help her support her attempt. She is a badass and I’m sure will try again.

It's surprising to me how much manual labor is still in composite boat building. I know CNCed and printed plugs are a thing now which is a big deal but there is a pile of cash ripe for the taking in automating layups, standardization, etc..
