I'm in the 1%. I had zero economic anxiety from the pandemic. I ended up wealthier. Millions of Americans suffered significant financial trauma during the pandemic. I don't deserve a gold star because I paid a lot more taxes than they did. I got off scot-free.Quote:

The pandemic didn't directly make me richer, nor poorer. I worked harder than I ever have with greater stress than I ever have, with far less free time than I have ever had while a chunk of the world spewed hate my direction for trying to help people.
Some people lucked out and had a pretty good pandemic. I do not blame people for that at all except for a few exceptions.
The resulting inflation is hurting me and many others. I absolutely think that taxpayer blank checks contributed to that, so if those checks were unjustified and immoral, then I am justified in taking umbrage since we are suffering while other benefited: for the companies big and small, the superstars, and the two bit influencers who had loans forgiven (free taxpayer money) when it was either clearly fraudulent or unjustified, I will retain my dim view of them.
If some of those people want to cop a righteous attitude about their undeserved benefits, or flip-the-script and cast judgment on others, especially when those smug people rely on their public perception for success... my view is significantly dimmer.

The pandemic ceased all work for me for a full 6-8 months. Ski guide work immediately over. Film gigs halted from March to November.
I took unemployment and worked under the table on Craigslist gigs when I could.
Did I take a SBA loan? Absolutely. It helped pay my rent and fix my car. Not everyone here is as fortunate as some.

But none of that is the driver behind inflation. When a virus affects the entire globe, globalization shows some weak points. Second largest city in the world was recently shut down for months. There were 500+ container ships sitting outside port. That back up of goods will take years to iron out. Hence there’s less supply world wide. yea, the whole point was a fire hose to get money out ASAP. There’s plenty of posts from March/April 2020 of business owners shitting their pants because they were a couple payrolls from going under with nothing on the horizon.
