They are getting to be a little annoying. Last Sunday they only got ONE gate open. It took them till noon to get the skiers right Summit Honeycomb gate open. NOTHING else opened all day, they even had the upper and lower Scree Slope gates closed. Milk Run never opened, Powderhorn gates never opened, Eagle gates never opened.
There was a mass of sidestepping humanity once they finally opened the Summit gate, by only having the one gate open they pushed everyone in the resort to the same terrain.
As the year has gone on it's getting worse and worse. Next weekend will probably be the last of the Summit for the year. I don't remember getting a discount on my pass cause they planned on trying to save money at the end of the year.
Even though I love Solitude, I'll be doing some thinking when it comes time to buy a pass next season.
Today was fantastic. Everything but Fantasy and EGP got open, conditions were stellar. We had guys from Snowbird dropping lines in the Dragons, guys from Alta pulling Solitude locals out of the unplowed portion of the lot.
I can't believe there is only one more weekend left.
Thanks to the Soli-Sunday crew, I had a GREAT day. You guys should really change your name to the Alta-Saturday crew but I'll leave tradition alone. That was the best day I've ever had at Soli by far. Especially the parking lot antic's....
I do have to ad, being identified by a stranger on one of the early hikes as an "Alta Guy" was pretty funny. I should have told him I'm more of an Alta Girl but I didn’t want to freak anyone out.
Today was a great finish. Once that sun popped out everybody seemed to step it up a notch!
Yesterday was an awesome closing day for sure. Glad the rain let up when it did. Hot laps through the park had me laughing all day, especially Fasty's snowlerblade spread eagles whilst wearing a kilt...awesome.
Doing postcard straightlines with little Bobmc and the mini Macdaddys and later seeing them win Solisunday achievement awards was also sweet. So cool watching the torch get passed on to the next generation of Solisunday rippers.
And Bobmc can make a mean pulled pork. So good. Already looking forward to the reconvening of Solisunday 2011-2012 edition.
Don't spend nearly as much time there anymore but it was great hangin with the mags the last day. With the exception of Ice and Buzz most of the crew was there. Damn glad to see at least spread eagle made it up PH for the final 4:20 run of the season, while the rest of the fools mailed he last run in from the parking lot natties and pulled pork sammies in hand:wink:
Need to get the icegrom togather with the mc grom and rest of those minirippers.
Here's a little blated soli stoke from a few good days i had there this season. Including my Bday
Blessed are those who get to ski copious amounts of fresh pow on their day of birth.
Like always if your not into watching bums slay the pow with helmets attached to their heads or down with the pumkins don't push play just move along:biggrin:
I'm just a beater that boards there and attempts to ski there as well. Over the years I just kinda do my own thing and don't try to keep up with the crew anymore. I'm just out to enjoy myself.
I do enjoy when Fartbag takes me out somewhere to challenge me on the 2 planks, but other than that I just do what I do.
And it is actually kinda nice to be called by my real name these days.
The Buzzworthy a decade ago is not the Ron I am these days.
Bumper up to the top
W/ the latest solistupidity
Presason days are no longer transferable.
So I can no longer hook up mags with the $44 ticket passes that I purchase
FUCK YEAH lets piss off the locals a bit more.
Seems the vrbo peeps were including these in their vrbo packages

But there's never any parking and its always so busy:fm::cool:
You know I'm a fixture there, Dibs. Every year I toy with the idea of moving over to the "other" canyon. Every year I end up with a Solitude pass. My boy is on the cheap pass for this and another year, after that I may have to look at economic possibilities.
I picked up a Thursday, Saturday, Sunday pass again. Can't use the Thursday, but I'll be there every Saturday and Sunday. I'm sure I'll see you there, ;).
Looking forward to lapping the 'tude with the crew here in just a couple more months. Halloween opening again this year?
About 10-14 years from now this guy right here will be ripping around Solitude:
http://www.outdoorsinutah.com/aaron1.JPG
He came about a month early today, 4lbs 4 ounces. Most ripping skiers I've met are pretty small dudes so he's got a leg up already. Heck, he's barely bigger than Phunk.
^Awesome! Congrats mag!
So stoked for you guys Bob; very cool. Love that mohawk. Our new little ripper will be hitting ski school at the same time. Gonna be fun.
Ticket paks this year for the Buzz(Ron) fam so we can choose our days of goodness and play at those other resorts as well people speak so highly of.
Buzzard will show when and where he feels this year. Mrs. Buzzard even wants to ski ALTA. The world is ending....
Don't care to be stuck this year.
I predict Solitude will be towing many people out of it's "lot enlargement" area.
Solithursday?
Rasta googles, beatered one lifes and technique that tells you I just learned to ski at the young age of 36 after a lifetime of dragged knuckles. Stoked on the Thurs special, gonna be there for opening day and the 20 inch base! See you there!
Gotta do it. Opening day 2011 in Utardia. Here's to a fantastic, long and powder choked season ahead!
The wheel is turning, and you can't slow down. You can't let go
and you can't hold on. You can't go back and you can't stand still
If the thunder don't get you, then the lightning will
Best opening weekend ever? I've grown fat and lazy over the summer, it's not fair to have to ski fresh pow on opening weekend.
Congrats Mrs Mc and BobbySocksMC!! I even hit up Sorrydude for a few hours yesterday afternoon for some high speed, leg lovin' groomers. No Bob Mc or SFB or Woodsy or MacDaddy sightings :(
May have to see what this "SoliSunday" thing is all about tomorrow morning  Just S(stay)TF outta my way if any of you above referenced kookas are in my way, elst you will feel like Crap when I run you over
Oh this time of year is such a delight.
Xover in BCC???? Does not compute.
Today was amazing. Maybe 5" or so waiting upon arrival, then nuked allllll day. Can't wait for Honeycomb to open.
Bobmc, nice to see you today. My 7 y.o. is still trying to figure out how to make change for a nickel.
Nice to meet you as well JBird.
Today was the best opening SoliSunday ever. 4 lifts running, fresh pow, and a large group of great people. All kinds of funny things happen over in the BCC when Alta and Snowbird aren't open. We had an infiltration of people normally seen in the more renown canyon. Tanner Hall was seen lapping the Eagle chair all day, he even managed to get in a run on the closed Gary's Glade (behind me). We had Altagirls and guys and even an Xover sighting.
What a great way to start the season!
Yeah, yesterday ruled. I think I counted our crew at being 16 people at one time. Lots of smiles and cackles for sure. Wish I'd have seen Xover.com, but I was probably gone before that late sleeper even made it up .
Well played. I miss Solitude right about now
Not sure I ever hear X doing anything but banging on BCC, amazing he was anywhere but LCC. But haven't been around much in last couple years. Has Woodsey decided to move back to Utardia yet...we miss you man.
Today wasn't too bad, 6 inches of fresh. But, we need some new terrain, Eagle is getting a bit boring. I'm hoping for a Powderhorn opening tomorrow or by next weekend.
Yesterday was a fun day 1, did about 5 laps on lower challenger. Rode up with a patroller and based on our conversation I think powderhorn (just diamond lane) will open today. I'm skiing with kiddos today.
JW tells me xovers scared of the fantsy booter knife edge. but the jw is a joker.
"fantasy ridge you got to get up to git down"

Special silly soli thurs in effect
No sfb trophy husband duties
No iceman head owie and not enough base:(
The little dribs and drabs of snow are finally beginning to pile up in the resort. In the last couple of weekends patrol has gotten Headwall/Evergreens open and pushed the ropeline in Honeycomb past C-rock out to the Pinnacle. Honeycomb is still old school style down to Eagle, no return lift yet.
It doesn't look like this yet:
http://www.outdoorsinutah.com/solilongtimeago.JPG
But it's beginning to be a bit more fun...
Holy smokes, tomorrow is going to be beyond good! It snowed hard all day, the Summit lift didn't open at all.
I'm just hoping the LCC road delay doesn't push all the skittle thugs up the Big.
Today wasn't bad, tomorrow has the chance to be stellar.
These were all taken today, conditions aren't bad at all:
