Hey ms, what'd they get for a pour of that 10y? $20?
Sipping this one right this moment...

Picked up a bottle and I decided to give it to Dad for Christmas. I'll have to wait and hope he let's me try it.
Picked up the bonded Overholt and tasted it straight. Good stuff. I'll probably take it over to my folks tonight or tomorrow and try some Manhattans.
^^^ Nah, that's the cost of doing business these days. An affordable indulgence, right? I'd take issue with them if they asked $25 though. ;)
How’s that Laws Cruiser?
Last night turned into sazerac night with the in laws

I put a couple of drops of good maple syrup in my after dinner bourbon. It's really tasty.
Sure beats pumpkin pie.
That laws is showy but it's still young whiskey and a bit coarse, especially at barrel proof. Worth a sip at the bar? Yup! Worth a bottle for the house? Maybe.
Yea I’ve held off on getting a bottle of any of their offerings so far. Seen some barrel picks lately along with some good sale prices that piqued my interest. But like you said it’s still young and at that price can be hard for me to justify when compared to other options.
Parents found a bottle of 2017 GTS. Just need to get it out here now.
It’s a Rye, but I tried some Once Upon a Dram at the store a few nights ago... wow. Very good. Almost worth the $120 price tag

Anyone tried this bourbon or rye? I’m intrigued by the brand name (of course) and just wondering if it’s decent. Next time I’m in CO I’d pick up a bottle just for the brand name if it’s okay.

Where I’m coming from for instance, Breckinridge bourbon isn’t bad. Not ‘the finest bourbon I have tasted. Yet.’ but it’s fun from a regional standpoint.
Grabbed a bottle of this on sale at a NH liquor outlet, and it's pretty fantastic for the price. Makes a mean old fashioned, and is pretty damn smooth neat or rocks

Yesterday, Pappy went on sale in UT. They sold out by 11:20AM.
For anyone interested, The Bone Yard in P.C. sells it dirt cheap. ...something like $15-$20-$30, depending upon the age. Not bad, considering last time I saw it at a bar in FL., it was going for $65-$95-$125 for 1 1/2oz. pour.
I have been drinking a lot of Hudson corn liquor later. Very yummy!
The "poor man's Pappy"
I can't find Weller anywhere these days.
I have 2 bottles of special reserve, and was eyeing a bottle of antique...
The 12 year is great.
I tried a rye called Midwinters Night Dram... wow.
Picked up a Blanton's, Rock Hill Farms, and a Elmer T Lee..
One of the local stores was marking up their bottles by a full 100% pissed me off, I would have bought a bottle from them, but $180 for a bottle is ridiculous unless it's something truly special.
I guess I just went all in on Mash Bill 2.
Jefferson's Presidential Select.
Henry McKenna 10yo is not bad.
Prices are fixed by the State, so mark-up is illegal. We get a great variety of whiskies. Try Rare Eagle, Hudson and Blanton's. When you get up into the 110+ proof whiskeys (Booker's), they tend to burn.
Grassier, IMHO it doesn't get much better than HW A Midwinter Nights Dram. Rendezvous Rye aged in Port barrels. Yummy! If I make it out to Aspen this winter, and the stars align, I bring you a taste.
Loved the manhattans that came out of my barrel. I aged just the bourbon and vermouth together and added the bitters afterwards. I liked being able to play with the bitters types and amounts. I made a cocktail with the unaged components and there was a significant difference.
I always thought it was just a faux pax with the distillery/distributor.... not 'illegal'.
I called them out as respectfully as I could and walked out of the store without buying any whisky.
I may have to pick up that Midwinter bottle, but the cabinet is full right now, my wife may not like the basement cabinet getting filled as well.
Not a bad decision at all ha! I have about half of an ETL I’m nursing cuz I don’t know if I’ll ever find one again. Would love to get a RHF.
That 12 impressed me. Worthy of the hype especially at retail.
I’ve seen the special reserve pretty consistently lately but have to ask for it sometimes. All the other stuff seems to go to auction around here.
If you like pappy, you might consider trying Blanton's (if you can find it). Collectors have been buying them up for the toppers but the taste is other worldly and IMO better than pappy for only $70. The flavors come in waves and it is very smooth.
I've got a family member working on the east coast right now and she found a liquor store that had some Blanton's for much cheaper ($53) than it ever was around here. It's her and her husband's favorite bourbon so she basically bought them out since it is no longer available around here. I had her pick me up a bottle as well since I only have three bourbons in my cabinet right now and the Eagle Rare is getting pretty low.
If everyone is done looking for unobtanium. I would suggest giving the new Old Ezra 7 year barrel proof a shot. If you are a proof whore like me, but not necessarily looking to drink rocket fuel every day, then this stuff is really good. Or if you are looking to up your proof game it's good as well.
I find with pours like Stagg Jr. And Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, I find it hard to pour something lower proof afterwards. Not so much with this. Good juice. Likely distilled by Heaven Hill.
Fancy heaven hill bourbon! Too rich for my blood though...
