Thanks for the link! Was unaware of that guy. I typically use spotwx.com for around here (monashees) which has been solid.

Gorgeous day up North - breezy weather kept the corn good all the way to the valley floor.

Came across this trip report on TAY looking for conditions reports at WA pass.

That’s an ambitious day solo

Wow, that is a really long walk and a lot of vert!
Yeah, like 15k of vertical and that steep of a line solo, over exposure and waaaay back there.

Bravo! A hell of an effort and nice write up. It’s hard to make Mom proud sometimes.
I skied the northern Mt Goode last week, it’s lovely as well. I’d post a pic but it doesn’t seem to be working…..

Did you take the same approach as Sam?

Thanks for posting that link MU, enjoyed the read. Is there a consensus on how to pronounce Goode? Is the "e" silent?
Sorry, i wasn’t specific enough- there’s a Mt Goode in the Chugach named for the same USGS guy; i was on that one. Coming home today to sample our springtime goodes!
I believe the E is silent….

I've heard it's silent E as well, but people will say different stuff. E$ aka Hedonaut has done a bit of exploring in that zone and told me some tales. I believe that eastern couloir on Goode was first skied by Jason Hummel and friends (maybe Kyle Miller? you can find an old TR somewhere)
He has links in the beginning of the trip report to past descenders. Ross P, Skye, Hummels, Dan Helmstadter.

Cool yeah I was thinking of this report where they climbed up that line but skied another direction https://www.cascadecrusades.org/SkiM.../goode2011.htm
Anyone been skiing in the Enchantments this spring? I'm planning to fly in for Adam's next week but it looks like it's about to get a proper storm that might shut us down.
Paging riff!
I saw a recent ish insta post from Trevor Kostanich of a ski traverse through there and it looked like coverage was good.
Weather seems to be moving into a typical spring storm cycle pattern. You will probably be able to find some good pow for your trip, but volcanoes are likely not the best bet unless we get clearing
Sounds good. We are going to keep our eyes on the weather and do what's best. Any suggestions for other places? We are coming with backpacking gear and prepared for a couple nights in the back country. My buddy lives in Ellensburg so the enchantments came to mind first. I've only been in there in the spring one time during an April ascent of prussic about 16 years ago.
The Chiwaukums are looking fat above 5000’. WA Pass is open, sounds like Chinook isn’t too far away. Teanaway is looking pretty good up high.

Yes if you're in Ellensburg you could try the Teanaway (although Stuart is apparently already pretty melted out). Snoqualmie pass would probably be thin down low but okay above 4k or so and has pretty interesting terrain like the Mt Snoqualmie couloirs, pillow lines, and tree zones that are good in storms. Second the recommendation of the Chiwaukum range (could do the traverse). Highway 20 is currently open for North Cascades access. And down towards the Mt Adams way are the goat rocks which is a cool zone albeit fairly alpine so not great in bad weather. If it's really stormy, maybe going up Steven's pass and riding pow in the closed resort or the backcountry zones in that area could be good.
Given that you'll be on the east side of the crest, even if it's a stormy/wintry pattern it probably will not be so wet that you won't want to get out.
The Chiwaukum range looks great. I don't think we could arrange a car shuttle so would have to start at either end and go back. Probably ski in and set up camp on day 1, ski in a zone on day 2, and come out day 3. Which end would be best?
Yo! I’ve been away a couple weeks so I’m not too up to speed on local conditions….however! I’ve heard the Teanaway is thinning out fast. I would probably go for the south end of the Chiwaukums, via Chatter creek. It will seem dry going up Chatter, but when you get over the first pass onto shady aspect it will improve a lot! Camp up past grindstone somewhere near Ladie’s Pass. There are some fun runs to take there. The Enchantments would be fun too, high enough to have plenty of snow and far enough east for clearer skies. Of the two it’s hard to pick a clear winner. Might be quicker to get up high in the enchantments, and the peaks and runs are all classics for a reason. The Chiwaukum method will likely yield less other users. Either way, the less than perfect weather is your ally in having it to yourself!

Thanks for the beta Riff. Both spots sound great, though I've never been to the Chis before so it sounds interesting.
