A little too close for comfort, but my shot did catch the soulful look in his eye.

Out on the front lawn yesterday PM. There's also a doe and nursing fawn off frame to the right. They like the grass and shrubs
Both bucks are two points in velvet
The one on the left doesn't look well.

It breaks by cold dead heart to see the orphaned moose calf on moose wilson road every day this week.
Was fixing a flat on my ride to work this morning and the poor lil guy is just hanging out where mom and it's brother got killed, eating a little then crying out for momma.
Lots of moose been hit this summer. I've had close calls and realize they're impossible to see in the dark, but the record-breaking tourist numbers combined with their leadfeet is slaughtering our swamp donkeys. This orphan calf won't survive winter.
So last night coming in at dusk from my long ride and dad is yelling at daughter to stop cause a moose is crossing the fire road. Cool I get it
But he just keeps yelling moose and it was already crossing the road back into the spruce. It stops and just stares at us and he keeps yelling. I don’t have kids so I don’t know but I think I would be quiet like I’m not here, nothing to see here.

We were out paddling and saw a crested merganser with one small duckling--same size most ducklings were a month or more ago. Mom flew away and left the duckling on it's own. We never saw the mother come back.
A striking thing about nature is the high infant/early childhood mortality rate. That includes humans, until recently in the industrial societies.
Hanging out on my patio. Seems dazed. Did not fly into the window. Just gonna let him be for now

Picking cherries in the smoke today and this hummingbird landed next to me. Strange to see them when they aren’t flying.

I met this angry little fella as I was hiking down from a climb above Colchuck Lake. He was coming up the trail and we had a standoff for a minute. He finally turned around and sauntered to the next switchback to let me pass. The mean mugging never abated.
Bald eagle with a fish, and eating it. He ate for a while and then flew off with it, back to the nest I guess.

I spooked a black bear on my bike the other day and it did more than spook me! Scared the shit out of me!
The way it jumped up and ran the other direction was pretty funny in hindsight...hey bear, you don't need to be scared of me! It was good size...250lbs maybe. No pics...happened too quick.
Also thinking it could be a mountain beaver, lol
Same here!
Cows everywhere tonight. It was classic. Ones like this is my single track. Loud moos and screw you aint moving.
