I thought Kmart looked crowded Saturday too but there we no lines on Superstar. I spent my day lapping that lift and lapping 24 oz beers at the umbrella bar. I've had worse ski days.

Anyone have a recommendation of a honest shop in the Hartford area? An old friend is getting into skiing after trying it last winter and looking to buy some gear for his wife. Hoping to point him towards a good shop in his area.
Thanks!
Hey VT mags, I'm moving back up to VT in 2 weeks and am looking for a 2 bedroom place in the Waterbury area. Are there any good resources other than Craigslist for finding a place to rent? Not much on there at the moment.
^^^^^wow that was quick! no likey the new manager?
rog
I hear ya. best of luck finding a place:)

Grubbers, start expanding Your circle till you find something. The repercusions of Irene and many, many like minded folk wanting to be in Waterbury make it a tight market. I know you like to get around so take a map, star* your favorites , then look at towns in an expanding radius.
Get out of the city.
^^^^^^^you sound like me lil buddy.:D

Channeling my inner Rog for this answer.
Don't get me wrong Stowe and Perry Hill are awesome, but the Boston area, specifically just north of Boston up to the NH border is just freakin' amazing. So much riding, and so much variety. Everything from the most technical riding you could ever image to super flowy SS heaven.
KT? Not really worth the hour drive when you have Stowe right there. Kimmer's plus some of the new shit Trapp's just built is way better than anything at KT. What KT really has going for it the lift-served downhill. Knightslayer, Jester, and that new trail they built for the enduro this year are just amazing. But anyway XC at Stowe is definitely better than XC at KT.
And just to really really please Rog. You have Bear Brook about an hour north of Boston. Bear Brook is just as good as KT. Don't have the views and the nice big downs, but whatever, the trails are in a lot better shape and aren't 10 feet wide like a lot of stuff on Darling Hill.
*All my opinions of course. All riding is awesome, I just like to bicker about what is ever so slightly better.
^^^^^^^^wholeheartedly agree. all those hours on the skin track/booter have allowed full absorption of "the rog speak":D
Hinesburg/Richmond area riding is pretty damn good too. some of my fave up there. mmmmm, bear brook. and you haven't even ridden all the new stuff there yet, awf. bear brook crushes KT in the adventure/wilderness feel department. big loops on long trails vs squiggly lil go nowhere trails at darling hill.
but grubbs is going for the snow/mountains too. understandable fer sure.
speaking of riding, off to do a loop!

28.8` and windy as fuck bob. Hard to judge [due to wind loading] but perhaps 7/32" new snow overnight and currently "misting" snow. Manmade I can see from the windows held up well and guns are on from mid down right now.
Must be a troll. With in 30 minutes of Waterbury the options are rediculous. From Millstone to Trapps to Perry Hill pretty much covers it. If not, there's all the unmarked, mapped, and unfindables. Having Mtns really does enhance the experience of mountain biking. I have ridden some great trail with some of the strongest riders I know in the "2shits", but c'mon dude. Curious to know what you have ridden in the H2Stowebury area before taking such judgements seriously.....
Kind of just trolling. I honestly think I will always pick the greater Boston area over just about anywhere else in New England for biking, but I definitely haven't ridden enough around Stowe to fully back up that claim.
I have ridden Perry Hill, about 25-30 miles of stuff around Stowe, and Millstone. And don't get me wrong it's awesome, but there is still stuff in the greater Boston area that I like more. Greater Boston riding is different, and not for everyone, but IMO awesome.
awf, you need to check out some of the riding in the MRV then, tons of good trails. I also prefer longer downhills as opposed to the constant up/down that you get down here in Mass.
Since skiing isn't very good at the moment we might as continue the bike chit chat... (and hope for Rog to chime in soon)
Definitely would love to check that stuff out. Heard a lot of great things about the riding in that area.
That doesn't surprise me at all. Well if you ever want to give me the tour I would definitely be down. Would also be down for the Northfield tour. I've seen some of the videos you posted, and that stuff looks fantastic.
Surprisingly southern New England riding is a lot more "rugged" than northern new england. Despite being flat, the greater Boston area is way more rocky than almost all of northern new england.
As any Fells or Lynn Woods rider can attest!Quote:
