this rain is insane. gonna be a dry start to the season me thinks. maybe a few inches on the ground by early/mid december.
rog
What you say Rog feels right in my bones. Have not followed the numbers closely, but it sure feels like a lot of rain since April.
Anyways, here is a snow positive from the weatherman at skitheeast

if you guys want some data: the summer's precip was just a bit below the all-time averages around NVT (but within .5 SD of the mean), and late sept/oct has been slighly above the all-time averages. Interestingly, if you compare to only the 20 year average however, the summer was very dry (like 1.96+ SD below the mean), and the fall has been almost right on average, if not a little below (but i think last night pushed it now a little above... holy WET).
I have a grad student in a class who does hydrology work in several watersheds of NVT, so I am always picking their brain for this info... I find more startling how much wetter the last 20 years have been than any single year's data...
Bummed I am missing Ullrfest to work this year, I'm looking forward to the flood (hehe) of images that should take over the ECRC starting Monday to let me know what I missed. I'm sure a few participants will need the imagery to let them know what they missed, too! May Ullr be happy with the work.
I did see an amazing movie this week on Climate Change called Chasing Ice. It opens regionally on the 9th of November, if it is playing near you I really recommend it. I'm sure with this crowd, the message is preaching to the choir, but it needs some buzz and momentum to get into other (larger) theaters. But if you like awesome images of snow and ice and a narrative of people doing truly heroic things for the greater good, it is totally worth seeing anyway.Quote:

Leg feels good, have almost full ROM, just need to let the screw holes fill in. Eating Tums for the calcium to hurry things along (I already take a mega dose of Vit D).
May stop by the BLBP for a beer or 3 this afternoon.
This thread was heading for page 2 so I just had to make sure it stays on p. 1. I suspect many of the usual suspects are nursing red eyes and pounding heads this AM
Loving the weather. Great biking for at least another couple weeks. Rain-fed boating, and a good precip. pattern heading into late fall skiing. Keep it coming.

^^ Hells yea!
The Hudson was at 6.8 ft yesterday... The highest it has been since Irene when it was at 7.4 I believe.
Been a lean year for boaters. One more for your enthusiasm. Not a great photo, but a fucking awesome drop. Like loosing a pillow fight to 20 virgins.

Might get even higher if this bad boy hits as predicted. One model is calling for 12" - 15" of rain at my house.... Oh boy.

Looks like this morning's GFS stagnates the Tropical system between Bermuda and the Bahamas and only adding a little gas to the incoming cold front before it is pushed out to the middle of the Atlantic
And of course, I would be nursing a slipped disc as the water finally arrives. Curses, foiled again!
VTF.. just lmao at the pics you put up on p.29... thanks and appreciate it....glad all had such a great time this past weekend.....
Weasal 1 sorry to hear about your disc... heal quickly my friend.........
The enormity of the ECRC threads just hit me as I realized that in 22 days we've racked up 745 posts or an average of about 33 posts PER DAY. If this keeps up this thread has the potential to surpass the 7 year old Snow For the Euros thread
If you were to stack the previous 5 ECRC threads on to this thread you'd get 41,455 posts and 2,409,733 page views.
This doesn't happen often but I'm speechless at the sheer volume of it. Nice work Crew!!
22 days, probably ~5 or so mindless posts in each 24hr period, so I'd say right around 100. And I'd probably still take the over.
Edit: The math guy says 1229, which makes mine a winning bet. Obviously I'm no good at handicapping - I'll leave that to the pro's
