Took the new camera out to hood river a weekend or two back. Here are a few I took before I realized that forgetting to take the polarizer off + low light = blurry riders.:nonono2:

Shortly after heard a loud *snap* sound. On the bike. Couldn't find anything, so rode on. No noise. A few minutes later, my drive side crank arm fell off. Oops. Never broke a crank bole before. A ride ender ~ 1/3 into what I'd planned for the day. Had a beer, went home and replaced the snapped bolt. Same cranks on two bike, so figured it'd be good to have a spare bolt kicking around in the parts bin...

If you change your crank bolts to steel, you wont need a spare. :cool:

Those alloy crank bolts just aren't dependable.

The spare is steel. Considering it took three years for that one to break though, I'm not too worked up over it.

IMO, this would have made a better drop from the rock up top, but then I didn't build the trail. Or maybe a skinnier skinny instead.

I have enjoyed this thread so I thought I would resurrect it with some weekend pics. It was one of the bigger rides I have done in awhile, and so satisfying. 19 hours in the saddle over 2 days.

The object of my ongoing obsession, so much so I have been on only a handful of trail rides all summer. I would just rather go dirt jump. A line coming back is in the process of being built.
Oh, and this is in a city park, built by people hired by the city.

Hadley rear, Hope front, SARS something or other headset off ebay. Dangerboy levers on Juicy-5. I'd not buy them again. Can't tell a bit of difference at the lever from the stock blades. Still ended up needing new lever blade bushings or to shim the blade to get ride of some slop, and that was new out of the box. Couple little shims fixed that.

I was in California last week visiting family. I took the XC bike and decided to ride a really cool trail that I had not ridden since high school. This trail only sees a handful of bike tires every year, the nearest town of any real significance is 1.5 hours away and doesn't have any stoplights.

Sometimes getting there and back is just as fun. ~80 miles RT of this + WRX = happy DTM

One of several bridges along the trail. They are sketchier then they look in the picture, with high consequences for failure and being alone in bumfuck nowhere I didn't have the balls to ride them.

The camera decided to crap out for most of the ride so I only got one pic of the actual trail, but this pretty much captures it. Perfectly buff, flowy forested single track with some great exposure and river views along the way. The whole thing was basically raked.
