SUMMER DISC GOLF

just thought i would post a couple more pics in honor of a good summer

kirkwood decided to loan their baskets to a course in jackson ca for the summer. so mountain opps went out and pulled 15 of the 18 baskets with a loader and a chain. this damaged the sleeves by pulling them up and tweeking them to the side. and as far as the baskets that they left, i guess that they just didn't care.

so my buddy had to go out with a sled and pull the last 3 baskets. he sledded them down and said that he wished that there were pics because it was hilarious. So we drove the baskets to jackson ourselves because the only way to get something done right is to do it yourself. when we got to the course in jackson we found a pile of baskets. some very damaged

we then decided to go down to new hogan reservoir to play that course. it was my first time there and i was impressed. i took a couple of pics. mostly scenics

I am looking forward to playing in the wind around here too.

I had some good times playing the course in Montlake Terrace. We played almost every warm /nice day. I'd load my old heli-pro up with tall boys of "The Champagne" and we'd smoke herb non-stop...that course rocked. My buddy has a lot of hilly land and he built his own course here in Bristol,NY. He's a golf couse super, so he mows nice fairways and leaves the rest natural.

More ornamental than obstacles, these mushrooms decorate most of the fairways. The rock moving alone was more work than building an entire course in most places. He used to mow it with a PUSH mower, which took 63 HOURS. This is on top of having a 40-hour a week job. (Stop and ponder that for a moment)

If there is a rating above “A+”, Flip City deserves it. There is a “vibe” here that you won’t find in a park. I think it could safely be called a reverence.
Flip City dgc is not just a disc golf course, it is a destination!

jhmr upper managment had been tossing around the idea of adding 9 more to the vils course,however it sounds like they need to get with the usfs on this! so its stalled for now.btw i will be sending a few discs from the top of the tram on sunday,so heads up!

kirkwood has all 18 baskets up now, and even though the weather hasn't been great you can go play. also zephyr cove's course should be open again tomorow after about a month long logging project. the course should be completly diferent now with the reduction of trees, but i'm sure it will still be fun.

bijou has started writing tickets for dogs on the course so if you are playing there be carefull. the ticket is $100.

talked to the zephyr cove folks this morn and they said tuesday is the new expected day for them to finish.

It starts in the field by the softball park. i think there are 8 or 9 (?) baskets, and posts for the rest of the holes- 18 total. There are more sponsors lined up and should be more baskets on the way. Tourney on July 4th.
I've been playing that course a ton, and just played Rose Park and Mossy Pines recently.

J.H.M.R. just got approval from the U.S.F.S. to add the back nine.a couple persistent locals pushed this thing thru. i think there are 3 tournys this yr.with the last one on t.g.r. premiere night as it should.

no need to thank kirkwood. you can thank joe forrest for hiking the baskets up on his shoulders and digging out the tees. also joe did that for free because he loves the course an kirkwood won't pay. if left up to them those baskets might make an apperance by july and probably would be damaged in some way

played zephyr cove today. it's very very easy now. there will be new placements, but i was told not before the King of the Lake Tourney.

Joe Forrest is the man!!! I need to see if I have video of his first cirque line at the Master's.

Nice to see another flick throw driver PD, I resort to that on reallllllly long drives where I can pitch up a high shot with a lot of anhyzer. Haven't thrown in ages, I'll PM one of you doods when my PT says I can start throwin again for some KW or cove action.

powdork, you are right zephyr cove is a lot easier now that the manzinita and lots of trees were removed. luckily some local came through with some brown paint and unmarked some of the trees. i have played it twice now since the tree work was done. the last time there were fire hand crews out there cleaning up. hopefully they will be done soon

according to them, they were done yesterday with the course sections, but still working on some school district sections that wouldn't impact play. They should be finished with that too now.

hole 11 is now in it's low placement through the gap in the trees.

yes those locations on 11 and 17 were installed last summer. they play nicely.
another new location is 7 although it hasn't been out this year(it plays deep)
also there are 8 new pin placements on zephyr cove.....some of them are pretty cool....worth checking out for sure.....also seems to be a lot more traffic at zephyr this past week....hopefully people are just scouting for the king of the lake, and crowds there will go back to normal after this weekend.

depends. bijou might be the best, but if you get there after 10:30 it can be ridiculously crowded. if it's a good beach day (real hot), sometimes this isn't the case.
zephyr is kind of nasty these days. the forest needs a bit of time to heal a bit.

Just did a driveby at bijou en route to patch hunting today. Depending on what we find tomorrow is either gonna be more patch skiing or hippie golf at kw or bijou. Or maybe both???

There is a new course in Alpine County at Turtle Rock County park. Eighteen Holes with multiple pin placements. Turtle Rock Disc Golf.

Turtle Rock Park is really nice. If you have the chance I would go play it. Right now it is set up fairly short, but that course has some crazy pin locations. A good example of this is hole 11. Just nasty in the long. Even as a par 4.

baseweldr, did you play in that tourney yesterday? i was one of three big sky players. shit was FUN, and what a gorgeous course. but LONG. holy crap.

bighorn ridge, the new (last year) course in the meadow in big sky, has received all the back nine baskets. we are actually redesigning the back nine, and will be starting to dig out tee boxes and whatnot whenever this snow disappears. we're hosting the state doubles championships july 17
