HA! Pistons laid the wood to the Lakers in this game. Kobe and Shaq 59 points, rest of team? 15. Pathetic effort by LA and I don't want to hear how they needed this to "get motivated." What kind of 'great' team needs to lose a game at home (or the first 2 games against SA) in order to get motivated. This is the finals for Chrissake! I never thought I'd ever, ever, ever say this: GO PISTONS!
Now that was a basketball game. Damnation. Man was I sweatin going down 2-0. Looks like we've finally got ourselves a real Finals series.

quick question.............
why do the almighty lakers have such a hard time beating a team that misses as many easy layups as my pistons do?
I don't think anyone has ever defended the lakers as hard as the stones do.......
when do you think payton and malone are going to show up at a game? I havn't seen them yet.....

As much as I hate to admit...Malone played with a ton of heart last night. He was a factor, bum wheel and all.
My hate for the lakers is infinite. Shaq fould every time her get the ball, Kobe is a rapist and they're all pricks. And I hate Derek Fisher cuz e always makes the big shots, along with Kobe. THe pistons are full of badasses, they will kick ass in Detroit
damn that game was hot! Gonna be a great series. Truthfully I wouldn't mind seeing someone new win. Ben Wallace is the man and I've always respected the way he plays with so much heart. But you gotta give Kobe his props and that Luke Walton assist was sick!
luke walton mantra all night
"balls deep in Britney, Balls deep in Britney"
the pistons gave that game away @ the end.
prince should have been on Kobe. whoo else is gonna shoot it.
Payton needs to get on board if that team is gonna go anywhere
prince started out on kobe but switched with hamilton when the lakers ran the screen.
Detroit gave that game away, damn that was hard to watch. claw back from 11 down to have that happen. They blew it when they were up by 6 with 45 seconds left and that cheapie foul on shaq plus the bucket. Either give him the basket, no foul, or fucking take his head off and make damn sure that ball doesnt go in.
Its hard to watch these games with al micheals sucking LA's collective wang throughout the whole series. The only time they talk about detroit is when they are saying how lucky they are that they are still in the game, and that the lakers haven't blown them out. Almost take 2 on the road against the lakers and still no respect. lame:mad:
pistons in 6
...cept the transplants, which by the way there are plenty in the City - go Lakers baby!:DQuote:

Whats this we stuff, are you on the team?Quote:

Pistons in 6.
Al Michaels needs to shut the fuck up.
Come on, boys!
It's funny how most people say "we" when the team wins, and say "them" when the team loses.Quote:

As for being a good series, maybe, but detroit almost took 2 in la before they went absolute zero cold for shooting. So close to putting them down 2-0.
The riots in detroit are going to be so fun to watch. I can't wait for the pay per view. ;)
lol @ that "we" and "they" observation
I'm gonna say L.A. in 6.
I think the Pistons had to go for the Jugular and take game 2 if the wanted to win. Now they let the Lakers get their confidence back up. But then again, all they have to do is hold down all 3 home games and it's over, so it could ge either way
I am not going to sell the team out and will still say Pistons in 6. But I just got this sinking feeling in my gut after Kobe hit that 3. I knew LA would take it in over time...I am just hoping the momentum does not cary over to the Palace.
I wouldn't worry MF...........
palace crowd is way more involved in the game than the L.A. crowd........
that is a huge factor with the stones...............

That we stuff was in reference to us, the fans. As in we, the fans, finally have a decent NBA finals to watch unlike the last oh, 5 years or so of sub-par finals basketball.Quote:

And please, don't come up with this "Pistons gave it away" crap. Shaq still had to make that fowl shot, and Kobe's 3 wasn't exactly wide open, not to mention it was from pretty damn deep. It's not like the Piston laid down and let the Atlanta Hawks come back and beat them.
yeah that game was won, not lost or given away. I actually thought it was over when Ben Wallace snatched down an OB and put it back late in the 4th. But Kobe at his best is too good... that wasn't bad defense by Hamilton.
actually though on second thought, where the Pistons really fuct up is on the inbounds pass of the play. The Lakers gave it to Shaq way out on the perimeter, and I think he might have even dribbled it before passing to Kobe, why not foul Shaq when given the obvious opportunity? I can understand wanting to play straight up though when you're up by 3 with like 10 seconds left though... but in hindsight, take the foul
Ok, maybe they didnt give it away, that was a sweet shot by Kobe. But all I am saying is just give shaq that bucket, you already screwed up by letting him get open, be up by 4 run off some clock and chauncey and rip do not miss from the free throw line, it would have been way harder for the lakers to come back. However when any game ends tied it you can place the blame on so many things, pistons missed a bunch of layups early in the game, Ben's shitty free throw shooting...etc.
All I know is that the palace is going to go off tonite, detroit crowd vs LA crowd is no contest.
Malone inbounded to Shaq with less than 10 seconds left, Stones up 3 points. A quick foul on him would have saved the game for us.Quote:

Pistons gave it away on a mental mistake.
Pistons gave it away because for abouth the last 4 min. of regulation, they didn't score a fucking point.Quote:

Good stuff so far. I'm not a big NBA fan, but this is an interesting matchup. Maybe I'm biased since I grew up in Michigan, but I figure just about everyone is rooting for the Pistons that isn't from LA or has some tie to LA. Anyone want to weigh in on that?
I despise LA. Not the Lakers, necessarily, just LA.Quote:

But unless Kobe is caught yet again in an Eagle County hotel, and Shaq chokes to death on a Caramel Crunch Bar, there's no way LA's going to lose to Detroit.
It *may* go 7, at which point LA will burn in celebration.
*As an aside ~ I only caught bits & pieces of the Larry Bird comments...Did anyone find them "offensive", or did he just say what everyone's thinking anyways?*
What game were you watching?Quote:

Larry's comments about white superstars weren't really offensive. Everybody recognizes the fact that a large segment of the population that used to be NBA fans (and put up with "good" black players like Magic and Jordan) are turned off by the whole Allen Iverson, hip-hop, gangstah image of today's NBA. I say that these people were never really basketball fans to begin with, but then again neither are 2/3 of the people at Staples Center - it's how the NBA makes money. Charles Barkley has made this point more than once on Inside the NBA and nobody flinched. So on that point Larry was right on (and he answered the question asked) -- race does matter: you think Eminem would be so big if he was black?
The more interesting comment was that he was "disrespected" when a white guy tried to guard him. I think part of what he was saying was that there were no white defenders in the league which is true (Bobby Jones, excepted). But the other, more interesting way to look at all this is that since Bird grew up so poor and with a broken family life, he almost feels like he can relate more to the black guys in the league (right or wrong about their backgrounds) and that he felt like his game (the brashness and trash talking) was "black." That and the fact that he says blacks are just naturally the best athletes are the comments that I think are wrong and damaging.
There are probably more good white players in the league now than in Bird's prime. The thing is most of them are European and I think as a result people don't think of them the same as the white US players.
I'm a Red Sox fan. I know all about this shit. :rolleyes:Quote:

edit: From the article I just read on ESPN, his comments don't appear to be very "newsworthy". Has there been another white player SINCE Larry Bird that comes even CLOSE to his level? No chance.
I used to be a HUGE fan of the game years ago. It's a different game now. Not because it's dominated by black players, but there just aren't many pure "shooters" out there. Now, you've got entire teams going through a playoff series that can't shoot over 40%. Being from Boston and watching that dynasty slowly fall apart over the years as the face of the game changed - is really why I'm not a bigger fan NOW. I have a hard time getting excited over a few 7' guys either slamming it home, or arcing one in from 10'. The "finesse" of the game is gone...
Who gives a shit what Larry Bird said? His actions spoke louder during his years in Boston w/ Parrish et. al than his words do now.
come on! where else can you look up at the sky at 2:00 am and think the sun is about to rise? Don't you appreciate that? Plus who needs to see little twinkling hot burning balls of gas millions of miles away, when you've got plenty of big stars right next door in Hollywood and on the Lakers that are much more entertaining? ;)Quote:

Anyway what time is the game on?
Who knows, man?
They tell us 8:30 ET, and tip-off was actually around 9:45 ET.
But that was while it was in L.A.
the pistons HANDLED the lakers both games...they beat themselves. unless the pistons just lose all their focus i can't see them losing the series.
remember...nobody even expected them to win one in LA...let alone almost win both.
Now that was an ASS WHIPPING!!! It's not even over yet, but I can safely say, THAT WAS AN ASS WHIPPING!!!
I remember back during the Western conference title matchup they were talking about that being "the real NBA finals." HAH!
BobMc
Yes, the Pistons made the Lakers look human tonight. Just remember the last series where they came back from a 2-0 deficit. It's not over til the fat lady sings.
2 down, 2 to go. :D
Detroit was hoppin' tonight!
I don't know if it's the Sheed factor or Larry Brown. Well, Sheed has had foul trouble this series. So who knows. Unfukkinbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a difference a year makes.

...Mitch Albom is usually a good read after these big games.
The Pistons are money. It's far from over, but this is an exceptional team.
Tayshaun Prince. Making Kobe feel small. Apparently they were high school rivals. Good television.
this must be what it feels like when you're hockey team beats the wings.............
fkna........beat by 20......held to under 70........
the stones amaze me every time they play
i thought Kobe & Hamilton were HS rivals, both being from Philly and all, but im not certain.Quote:
