heh, anybody notice this? theres a link to this thread on Bill's website! Just scroll down, you'll see it.
Yeah, I saw that a few months ago. Apparently it's been up for a while.
I didn't read all 4 pages of this thread so I hope I'm not repeating what's been said but when I showed this film as a prelude to Soul Purpose at Brewvies in SLC earlier this month, I had a lot of people who came up to me and said that they liked Sinners better than Soul Purpose (sorry TGR)
I think that's because most of us mortals can relate to Sinners and picture ourselves in Sinners more than we can to SP. I particularly dig the soundtrack.
Of note, when I put Sinners in the DVD to play on the big screen it was better sound quality than the Soul Purpose DVD. Night and day difference in production quality. hmmmm.
I agree that it must be pretty nice to...Quote:

OK, I suppose I should have added that my folks and I were, being 15, I thought that went without saying. Whatever, it isn't worth starting a flame war over a technicality.
Was introduced to Sinners by Pinner. Great flick fellas.....really captures the soul of skiing with bros. :yourock:
I'm glad DVD's dont wear out the way VHS tapes do. I took a few month break from watching Sinners, but after 2 months straight of bashing gates as my only form of skiing, I needed some powdery respite. Like it or not, there is something special about the flick that few other ski movies seem to posses.
So the Telluride film festival screening just made its stop by hampshire college. I went just for Sinners. Awesome!! Like a 24 minutes snowgasm. Such a refreshing change from most ski movies. Loved it!
We just received this movie last night and watched it. Awesome powder.... but aack! 22 minutes? It gave me blue balls. And I don't even have balls. :nonono2: Guess I'll just have to watch it 3 times in a row or something. A bit expensive for only 22 minutes, but it was a good movie. Tons of powder, and I liked the soundtrack much better than most.
Wait, the whole movie is 22 minutes? I saw the Banff Festival, and thought that was only part of the movie - is the DVD version really that short?
yeah, the dvd timer thingy said 22 minutes when it was over. I dunno, am I missing something??
Nope, short and SWEET. The best way.
Saw it at the Banff film festival. Liked it a lot.
'nuff said.
Saw this last night at the Banff film festival.
Add me to the (short) list of those who didn't like this movie. Seemed to be mostly slow-motion shots of skiers crashing in really nice looking pow, and most of the time, not even really trying to stick their landings, just crashing.
There were a few scenes I did like, with some nice powder turns, cold smoke billowing up overhead. But that's about it.
All the Ritter songs sounded the same too... but it was a nice change from the usual suburban-white-boy-rap-metal-thrash-pseudo-angst from the ski films.
I agree. Some pretty snowfall shots, but overall the film just doesn't do much for me.Quote:

I watch it more often than my other skiing flicks. I like the few Lester Quitzau songs a lot more than the Ritter songs.
I can see how Sinners doesn't appeal to everyone. I loaned it to my younger sister and her hubby (both boarders). They said the "old man" just didn't do it for them.
Popped Sinners in last night before heading up to bed. There's something nice about living in NJ and watching a ski movie in June. Yes it's short, yes, nobody in the flick rips like Nobis or Morrison, but there's something about this flick that no other ski movie I've seen has. :D
Sinners=Summer sanity for someone stuck in NJ
just got done watching it for maybe the 100th time or so and think this movie is what it's all about. I frickin love my family, one hitters and the taste of jack daniels. Oh yeah, Last post with this name so Catch you on the other side.
I want it, need it... but at €73 last time I checked (or was that $$ ?) I am not vey hot on the dvd. I guess shipping to Europe sucks.
Too bad
You should try living in Australia then!.Quote:

I might watch it now.
Get after it boy!
Here's what Sinners does for me: It makes me want to ski. Just popped it in half an hour ago 'cause I had Wings in my head and I smiled just about the whole way through. I've watched trailers and teasers and all sorts of gnarly footage these past few weeks, but nothing - and I mean nothing - puts me in the snow like Sinners does.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and was moving to Nelson in my head),
d.
Put in the DVD player for the who-knows-how-many-ith time last night.
Damn I want to ski.
I was hoping I could get some help with putting together the soundtrack list of this gem.
So far I have got:
Track 6 off the Hello Starling album by Josh Ritter.
Lay Me Down" by The Frames
? Lester Quitzau
Can anybody help me out?
Thanks
Ok, so my asshole roommate scratched my copy. Just emailed Bill, but does anyone know where they're still selling it/blasphemous as it sounds want to burn me a copy (I swear I bought a real one - I wouldn't suggest it any other way).
Lester Quitzau - Valhalla & Turkish Theme from album "keep on walking" are the two instrumentals near the start.
Then "Wings" by Josh ritter
Then Lester Q, Rollin & Tumblin from "So Here We Are"
Then The Frames "Lay Me Down"
Then Josh Ritter - Harrisburg and Snow is Gone for the credits
great soundtrack, great movie.
just watched this today and it put the good shivers down my neck
I've never had so much fun watching a ski movie where nobody landed a single trick ;)
But seriously, there's so much more to skiing than that which is 'industrial' and Sinners makes you feel it. It's like the wise fellow in the room who speaks truth quietly while everybody is busy yelling obscenities at eachother.
Watching "Hand Cut" by Sweetgrass this fall gave me that Sinners vibe and it was no mistake. Word up to Bill, Josh, Ben and Nick. Good on ya, fellas!
I just had to bump this after watching Sinners again. 5 years later it's still my favorite. I never did see his next film, perhaps I should look it up. Come on, winter.
I was all over the posingproductions.com site. The pictures alone are amazing. Good publicity here for Bill. I'm in too with buying the film.
Still my all time #1 favorite ski flick.
And still the only one that has ever really been able to capture the true "soul" of skiing on film. (IMO)
I liked Sinners so much I did a trip a few years back to Nelson, mainly to ski Whitewater and Red, after loving the places on the film. I had just watched his next film (7 Winters Old?). I ran into Bill and his brother in a bar and gave them props for their films.
I need to watch them again this weekend.
wow what a relic of a thread
lookit all those names- where are all those guys anymore...?
They had the internet back then?
I have a friend who has never seen this movie. Where in the world can a guy find a copy of this now?
Why don't you just contact the man himself?
