The EC Jay mini summit in March has been changed to a kayak and mtn bike event.
Maybe Tuckermans will still have some snow by then?
bumping this up---so I don't have to read through all 4 pages---anybody come up w/any ticket deals?
You don't have to go through all 4 pages, just go back to page 3 :p I posted the deals I found.
So what's going on? Who's at this thing besides me, DBlatto and Estobum?
I'm leaving for Utah on the 4th, so you should get snow here.
I'm planning on Fri-Sun
Let me know if you want to ride up with me from albany.Quote:

Without reading through the thread to see if it's been mentioned, and as an FYI, BTW, the Belfry restaurant (in between Jay and Montgomery Center) kicks major ass. Get the trout bruschetta.
works for me-checked out any places to stay?Quote:

How many people are in, and should I attempt to have some Phantoms in my car?
I am not a salesman, but I'm gussing that Dave (the owner of Phantom) would be interested in showing off the ski to maggot tree rats, in hope of a sale or two. In return, I'd like to see the good stuff at Jay, where I have never been. OK?

Do people still want stickers. If so, I have a nice design cooking. However we will need to find a better way to fund the project. I think schuss lost the farm last year in terms of payback on investment.
Hey Benny, a pair of Phantoms to play with for a run or two would be awesome. L8A, I'll kick down some $$ for stickers. Last year I just bought beers but this time... I still have way too much empty room on my helmet that needs to be stickered up so anybody with some extras from the other summits this year should bring them with also.
As for lodging options I changed my room at the Jay Village Inn so the 4 bedroom apartment that sleeps 10 or 12 peeps should still be available. It costs $225/nt so if you load it up that's pretty cheap.
I do not need accomodations, I've already got that setup for myself. I will actually only be skiing friday and saturday. Gotta start the 19 hr drive back on sunday. Not sure I'll be able to ski with the maggots the whole time, but should be able to get some solid skiing in.
I would love to try a pair of the phantoms look at the construction, etc. However, I'm 99.99999% sure that I will not be buying a pair due at this time to spending most every last penny to get to jay and being a grad student.
Stickers, I'm up for some, but I've got no clue what was done the last couple of years. If there's only a dozen of us how expensive could it be? I'm willing to throw a few canadian pesos in if its reasonable.
And I think I was at that belfry restaurant last year, and if I was, it does kick ass.
I could very well be in Guntown-fucking-Mississippi during these dates.
Let the jealousy commence.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and I mean your jealousy),

if you can get 15 people to ski w/you at Jay this weekend, you get a season pass for the rest of this year:
The 6-pack – with a twist
The usual 6-apck is available (to and including Monday, February 6th). Groups of 6 people or more can ski or ride for just $39 (at par for Canadian guests). This rate includes a lift ticket, lunch, and a 2 for 1 coupon to visit again this season for every person in your group. Just send the following information to customerservice@jaypeakresort.com:
-The names of everyone in your group.
-When you plan on visiting (up ‘til and including Monday, February 6th)
-How you intend to pay (Canadian guests must pay in cash to get the rate at par.
The twist is that if you organize a group of 15 people or more, you (the group leader) will get a free season pass good for the rest of this season. You need to visit on or before the 6th and you have to have a minimum of 15 people – you can have more than 15 but not less. Again, e-mail customerservice@jaypeakresort.com to sign up.
The stickers are cool, but I just don't think we have enough people to make it a worthwhile idea. Who really needs 30 stickers each? What if we did t-shirts? That would be more expensive per person, but it would provide more utility.
Hijack: Were you at Jay on Saturday? We were a bit early on the 11:30 lunch thing so I don't know if we missed you...Quote:

I think I might be in on this, I have been wanting to hit Jay for awhile now. I am going to wait and see how the weather shapes up. I will let you all know in 2 weeks or so.
If I'm not skiing elsewhere, I'll be there. How's that for a plan?
Fuck it I am pulling the trigger and going to the W/B summit :FIREdevil
I wish I could go to the W/B, but I'll definately be at Jay.
Benny, I would be psyched to try out some Phantoms if you got them, I'm pretty interested in these skis.
might try and sneak up if i can snag a ride from near nyc.
You're always more than welcome to hop a train up to Poughkeepsie and come along with me. Not that I'm skiing much this year, but...Quote:

My problem is lodging. Don't really have the cash for it with the medical bills and all so if anybody has a hookup let me know please. I can get 2 lift tickets each day at my military rate of $25 bucks to help out.
That and I'm a wicked ass cook. Infact if somebody has a condo with a good kitchen I could whip up my blackend chicken alfredo with SW veggies for a large group if everybody chips in on food costs. Beside it would be a great meal to charge the mtn the next day. It would be a great way for all of us to get together for a good meal without having to rush all over fuck, and then rush to meet back up with fellow maggots.
It's no big deal. I just like to cook, and it would be my way of saying thank you to all the maggots for their spiritual support for me since last April.
What kind of question is that? We would be over the top thrilled to have you (make dinner for us) come.Quote:

edit: Unfortunately I don't have room in the hotel room to help you out with a place to crash but I'm sure someone does. Hey DBlatto, didn't you say your friends have a house up there for the winter?
I think I'll be doing a Friday night run after work, probably not that different than Poughkeepsie but there may be a few more trains on Sunday from Stamford back to the city.Quote:

4" of new snow since Sunday night.
Light snow dropping on us again as we get things in order this week. We received a smallish 2-4” over the past few days and forecasters are calling for natural snow—a few inches at a time—just about every day this week and right into the upcoming weekend.
That forecast is better than any other I have heard and we are planing to hit Jay this saturday as a result.
Falldise
I will not be attending this time around.
Klammer, you can borrow my car and drive up, but I'll warn you it has no speedometer, and I wont guarantee it will actually make it to the NH border.

Looks like I should be around in some form. So seeing as I'm too lazy to read back, what are people doing for lodging? Anyone booked anywhere?
Mit, Kabubu and I will be there at least one day and are considering overnighting it.

I was up at Jay this weekend and the trees are in pretty good form. Most of the stuff off the face of the Tram is pretty solid water ice. but nothing prohibitive to entering the trees below.
still lots of barely covered rocks though..
Greetings 242’ers…
Over 2 feet of new snow in the past week has this place as buzzing as it is buried. We’re 100% open and forecasters are calling for natural snow to accumulate nearly every day this week and right into the weekend. Winter certainly took its time to arrive but it’s here. For sure, it is definitely here.
But for a brief window. Any day this week Tuesday through Friday. Get 5 buddies together (plus yourself) and you’ll ski or ride for just $39 AND we’ll throw in a lunch and a 2 for 1 coupon for you to come back. We have 100 spots available and they will sell out. Real quick-like. Send an e-mail here. customerservice@jaypeakresort.com
MARDI GRAS WEEK - February 27th through March 3rd.
Voted one of the top ten winter events by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, this one is worth taking a day off for (or, if you’re lucky enough to be a student here in Vermont, you’re already on vacation…). Great food courtesy of Chef Mark Uddo (Direct from New Orleans), live music every day (including the big Crawfish Boil Blowout with silky Tammy Fletcher and the Disciples on Saturday the 3rd of March), mask making, a big parade, King Cakes and free Maple Pralines everywhere you look—make it a point to visit for at least a day next week. Great Ski, Stay and Play packages are also available. Call (800) 451-4449 to book.

I think they mean saturday the 4th.
Anyway, has anyone set up any lodging?
I would love to kick in for a house rental Friday and Saturday night.
I'll take it unless someone less is driving up from Boston (please please please). I can also hop on a train to get near a ride if need be.Quote:
