Fucking awesome troll. Mad props. :yourock:
The 18th Century called they want their paintings back.
Zazzle? Is that like Rasterbator?
dude, do you posses critical thought? that 60 minutes piece (from what I recall) essentially lambasted the guy for being a phony and spewing out product that was as far from real art as you can get. they essentially said this is speculation based on a bogus market that his empire has created, and that in reality, only other ass-hats (e.g. kinkade collectors) would want to buy these things, and therefore, the prices would decrease - eventually crash, as no serious art collectors want them.
you are killing me: "this sweet kincade gets me stoked for skiing" ummmm, yeah, not so much...
Rockwell is miles beyond this guy.
Rockwell did some pretty interesting socio-poitical commentary (it's not the stuff of his you usually see) but this guy is, well, I'll 9th the shit comment.
But I laugh when I see it, so it isn't s if it has no effect.
It's painting, but it isn't art.
Epic memebers hopefully know better than this - I'm pretty sure some of them own some serious art.
bump. i want to know if there are any other kinkade collectors who also like to ski.
Dude. Fuck off. Just fuck off. No one is interested in the bullshit faux-art you're trying to push. I haven't seen paintings that bad since I shagged your Mom in a Motel 6.
Whore.
Thomas Kincade: Painting:: Kenny G.: Jazz.
Nice troll, by the way.
Did this troll bump it's own thread?
The first post was a clever troll. The next 11: not so much.
Bisump for some summer Kincaid stokeage.
Seriously, I just bought one at the mall.
Ballstein - Bad call, at least from an investment perspective. It appears the market has become quite saturated with his art work.
I sold one of my Kinkade paintings to see what the market was like this past winter, as I was getting a bit nervous about the value of my collection.
I lost ~$200, making the mistake of selling it with no recourse. Paid about $400 and it sold for $175.
Unless it has sentimental value, I would advise returning it for a refund if it's not too late. A friend told me about the 60 Minutes tv special on Kinkade and I watched it - only wish I had seen it before I started collecting his stuff!
I still love it though and will probably hold on to it for at least 10 years to see if things improve. If not, I'm sure my kids will love to have them as family heirlooms.
It's Kinkade, not Kincaid. People always seem to get the spelling wrong.
Also, check out his web site if you like his stuff. His brother is touring around and talking about growing up with Thomas. Should be some great stories. Additionally, I think there's a tour of originals. Don't think the Seattle Art Museum will display his stuff. Too stuffy and Kinkad's work is too popular with the masses.
Kinkade's idyllic paintings remind me a lot of my childhood in the north woods. Except for without the anal rape!
My wife didn't like her childhood memories and I didn't have any. So we bought a bunch of some random familiy's shit at an estate sale and spread it around our house. I never met any of them but judging by the smiling photos and sports trophies they were probably a happy, well-adjusted bunch.
Bump for some much needed stoke.
sweep bump, love the Thomas Kinkade stoke!!!!!
this thread makes me laugh...
My parents would have killed me if I left all those ligts turned on after Central Vermont Public Service switches over to winter rates.
Hey you stupid fucking aliases, take a look and learn from one of the greats. :D
Anyone catch this appearance? Totally bummed.
Thomas Kinkade plans appearance, auction of sketch
IF YOU GO:
Thursday, October 04, 2007
Wildly popular artist Thomas Kinkade finds himself inspired being in Pennsylvania.
"As I wander around rural Pennsylvania, I see such elements of history that it allows my artistic heart to take flight," Kinkade said. "Families have lived in the same neighborhood or often in the same home for many generations."
Kinkade makes his lone state appearance this year on Saturday at the Hilton Harrisburg. A limited-edition canvas will be auctioned; it will feature an original Kinkade sketch on the opposite side of the canvas, which he will create live at the event. He did the same thing recently in Boston; the resulting sketch raised $43,000 for charity during a four-minute auction.
I have three Kincade paintings in one of my condos in Breck. Should I have alarms placed on them or should I just shoot myself?
I view Kinkade as a craftsman, not an artist. That is all.
Where I Was From by National Book Award winner, journalist, novelist, and screenwriter Joan Didion is a great mixture of autobiography, history, journalism, and essays on California as paradise squandered. In it she devotes a chapter to trashing Kinkade.

My sister had some Kinkade post cards on her table. This can't be my relative, I thought. I questioned about the cards, feigning ignorance..it was not a stretch. She claimed the artist died. I breathed a sigh of relief, so it was of interest that to me that Kinkade is making an appearance in PA. I googled to see if he is truly dead. I'm still not sure, but this link came up.

I really liked the artist in the most recent Ski Journal. Can't remember the name.
His paintings remind me of visiting my Grandpa....before he touches me
I will admit, as much as I love Kinkade, I was pretty skeptical when I heard he was doing a movie. However, I'm pretty psyched that Peter O'Toole is starring in it and I imagine it will be pretty good if he agreed to do it and got on board with the project. Looks like it will be first released in Iceland, but will hopefully get a US release in time for Christmas.

not sure how this year old thread ended up getting bumped...
I took kincaide and 16 of his family members rafting this year and they were slightly rude, very high-maintenance and didn't tip any of the three river guides. I don't even think any of them swam...
oh, and his art is crap
now that's what I call commitment to a bit
just came across this announcement that Kinkade's film will be released on blu-ray which will only add more value to his artwork. Kind of a lame film (embarrassed to admit i got the DVD), but kind of neat in that it's also some what autobiographical of his life.
Anyways, thought I'd share since i remember some of you like his art as well.
