Politics in this country is like riding the pirate ship at the fair. If you’re at the end of either side the highs are higher and the lows are lower. People in general need to chill the fuck out, the ship needs to slow down so we can get back to some semblance of normalcy. These big swings don’t happen by accident, they’re driven by rage and hate with no consideration of rationality or a respect for other people.

Ok, but no administration has tried to bring authoritarianism - more specifically, Comptetitive Authoritarianism - to this country.
Competitive Authoritarianism is what people in Hungary or Turkey now live under. The presidents advisers have not exactly hidden that this is their goal even if they are not shouting it from the rooftops. It is also spelled out in Project 2025.
The actions the administration has taken since January back this up, it is not just a theory. It does not mean they will be successful, but it is the goal they are clearly working towards.
I will be relieved when we can get back to bitching about normal politics.
