Not much fighting went on there
I can't believe they sanctioned that fight. Tyson was not in any shape to take that bout. Probably why it was in Texas and not Vegas. Paul is a huge fraud, but I guess he's a rich fraud, so good for him.
If you can't knock out that version of Tyson you have no business being a professional heavyweight.
Oops, I now aee this was covered in the first two pages of this thread that I skipped over.
I'll agree that the only way Tyson could have won was a quick knockout in the first two rounds. The big gloves meant his knockback/down power was seriously nerfed and he quickly ran out of gas and the taller Paul just wore him down with reach and youth.
What a boring fight. They should have just given the ring girls pillows and let them swat each other for 30 minutes. That would have been more entertaining than watching these two do essentially the same thing.
The biggest tell tail that this was all a sham was that Jake didn’t knock Mike out. He’s not a good boxer, but after watching it, it shouldn’t have taken a good boxer to knock Mike down and it was blatantly obvious he was sandbagging. Which quite frankly I was kind of happy about after seeing Mike’s condition.
I’ll admit, I totally got played with the lead up videos. As soon as they showed Tyson walking into the building, it was clear to see that wasn’t the same guy they were portraying in the vids from even a week ago.

This felt like some black mirror shit. I felt bad watching almost 60 year old Mike Tyson. It just seemed…wrong.
I feel like everyone lost tonight, except the people who got paid.
I just watched the Ali/Foreman documentary on Netflix, about the rumble in the jungle. These fights were shit with the exception of the women

Tyson didn’t want any Jake Paul body spray on him so he held back his punches. He wasn’t biting his gloves, he was smelling them.
Yeah, that was a good one. I wasn't old enough to ever (I guess I was technically alive for at least one) see Ali fight but my dad talked about him as a boxer and a person.
I hadn't seen any of the lead up stuff but figured I'd watch it. My stream sucked donkey dick, so unless it was just me Netflix is gonna have to figure some shit out. About as anticlimactic as it could be.
Also, that's the first time I've seen Rosie Perez in a minute and did Evander Holyfield say anything or just sit there?
Didn’t watch but my insta was flooded with memes of Tyson’s bare ass and Netflix buffering.
Tyson accomplished what he wanted to do---collect a 20 million paycheck and didn't get hurt. Jake Paul is still an ass.
Given that Tyson couldn't/wouldn't actually fight, I'm just glad it turned out there was a third option, (shuffle around till it was over), and it didn't end up like Holyfield/Belfort. That would have been even uglier and sadder.
I just read the coles notes version on CTV so they all made bank
I did watch that first fight was on with the purple trunk guy at the craft brew and that looked like a real fight
glad i didnt stick around for the main fight
Lennox lewis translating English to English for Holyfield looking like Stevie wonder was the best part of the fight . The host wearing the Star Trek outfit was a close 2nd

I guess I'm in the minority because I found it all to be somewhat entertaining, sham or not. Didn't even expect to watch it.
The two fights before the main spectacle were fantastic…
Yeah, a pair of good fights bracketed by social media spectacle. Welcome to the future: more people watched a social media influencer box against a 58-year-old Tyson than watched the final of the World Series, NBA Finals or Wimbledon
Speaking of fighting if you haven't checked out Dakota Ditcheva yet she's fun to watch.

Yes.
Remember back in the day someone had to buy this for like $60 and then you’d give your buddy cash to sit and watch some hyped up fight last 1 minute.

Certainly is! Maybe she can fight Jake Paul next time.
Which is why we got this as soon as the Friday Night Fiasco was over.

I'd say "unbelievable", but the public has shown repeatedly it has a propensity to forgive and, especially, forget.
Give it a year.
It's a goddamn outage that Tyson took home $20M to Paul's $40M. How many people gave a shit about watching Paul's last fight?
Mike in the first 30 seconds looked dangerous. Mike during the rest was painful to watch.

I didn't watch the figtht, but from what I've heard, it went about how I expected.
I'd also say tyson probably felt confident he could at least protect himself, and not get the crap beaten out of him. From what I've heard, thats about how it went. Tyson had no motivation to take any real risks, and from what I hear, paul won on points, but didn't really hurt tyson.
Similar to connor and mayweather, some people said 'staged' afterwards, but really, it doesn't need to be staged, its just not a fight that had that much motivation to risk anything, the payday was assured, why get beat?
Jake Paul was smart enough to know that nobody wants to see an old man get humiliated. He played it exactly right for the future of his brand.
Honestly, for me, the best moment was Tyson walking out alone after Paul's over-the-top entrance. That was unexpected but oddly symbolic.
Wonder what would have happened if the boxers were getting a $100k appearance fee with a $60 million purse for the winner
Interesting if either of them would have even showed up with those terms?
I don't know if Paul would have gotten in the ring if Mike was wearing 10 oz gloves and allowed to throw upper cuts.
I don't know if Mike would have gotten in the ring without guaranteed real money especially if they have gone to 12 rounds 3 minutes a piece.
I was pretty excited to watch this fight. It turned out to be what we should have expected. Two guys who really like each other fighting in training gloves so no one can get hurt.
