Fingers crossed.
Supposedly 50/50 at this point.

There is zero chance at either Tline or MHM running lifts
Mt B finally kicking into gear
TonightSnow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 22. Breezy, with a west wind 22 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible.
SundaySnow, mainly before 4pm. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 25. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.
Gonna head up and see for myself just for kicks, but the cams sure as F make it look more like 1-4” than 9-13.

Drove up to Bachelor to see what's what. Was snowing and blowing in the parking lot.

Storm underperformed, but maybe it will make up for it later on.

I know that no one cares are gives a crap that I did the Cone today. And the snow was good enough and the legs felt decent enough for a 2nd lap.

I can also confirm that you can ski to the "road" or parking lot if you so desire.

Hopefully things stay cold enough to preserve the snow and for Bachy to make some snow for opening.
I was tempted to try a walk but only saw an inch or two at midday
Leeway and cone were actually pretty fun. Better than expected given the lack of new. No ptex/edge injuries.

2” reported at mhm
(le sigh)
Opening day delayed...makes a ton of sense
Ullr will tell us when it’s time to slide on snow, not Powdr Corp.
That little fucking spanish boy. Fuck him.
Could end up the strongest since it was initially observed.
According to these maps, warm and dry for the Oregon Cascades.

I’ve been planning a trip to Jackson in February, but maybe I should take my own advice and follow the historical snow fall of an El Niño winter. This is a good map, as its snow fall above or below average. Brown - all the PacNW and NW Wyoming - and blue - SW Colorado, the Sierra, Utah. Always felt that’s part of the beauty of SLC. I think it does well in both.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you non-skiers.
I’m thinking lifts spin at Mt Flatular 1st day of Hanukkah.
Below average is probably still good enough 😀
Should detour to Silverton, but it’s a bitch to get to and nothing for the family.
Never skied Mammoth or Big Bear, but can’t say they’re on my shortlist either. Maybe Telluride or Crested Butte. But, CB can get both northern and southern tracked storms, but it can also get missed by both.
Snowfall next weekend at the earliest

From the looks of the Bachy Pine Martin cam, they have been blowing some snow. I hear it's good for the base.
Mammy has a decent amount for the family, not as happening as Bend but you can do stuff like towing that ski trailer of yours on groomed trails along the lakes and below some rad touring terrain, ice skating when there is no new snow, and the town shuttle/gondola service is handy if you can trade/negotiate some hours of kid/partner free time to go bang out hot laps on Chair 23 while still leaving the vehicle with partner and kid. Not as sustained steep as LCC but much steeper than Flatchelor. Worth putting on the short list!
Meadows is going cashless

There's no date. It's still called Bachelor Butte Skie Area
SW area of that map is pretty open
What year? I guess 1980

Good base, just need a foot plus to get things rolling. That's not too much to ask, right?

^^^Not much to ask at all. Less than a month to official winter
It’s the east side that looks particularly sparse. A wasteland east of Pilot Butte
I think the name was changed from butte to Mt. In 1983. But interloper would know, he’s been around since it last erupted…
That’s good information. I will consider it. I’m sure it’s a beautiful spot. I’ve spent little time north of there in the Sierra in the summer months. Might end up just doing a bachelor trip for a few days to escape and just ski. I got some friends in SLC so that would be the obvious answer.
You are correct, 1983. But us locals still refer to it as BB. And it's only been 15,000 yrs.

^^^^ Don't look at Sunday afternoons forecast. Looks like things could be spicy or the word that shall not be named...during winter.
There's the 23-24 thread. I'm looking forward to another cool season, dudes. Had a blast meeting some of yall last year and hoping to see more of ya!

Thanks!! Yeah, he sure did put a big ol diamond ring on it. Great guy.
You know, we first met in a skiing discussion forum? Someone posted up, "Who is the nicest most beloved man on Newschoolers" and everyone started tagging him, so I slid in his DMs, obviously.

Temps start dropping Monday pm & stay low for awhile. I'll take anything right now. Congrats to the couple.
