Also, Turbo Otter on amphibs ftw. I've heard of Turbo Beavers. Not sure why anyone would spend that kind of money for what you get. Maybe someone is making new ones that make sense somehow?
Well since you are the mayor, the town council, and the building department of Harry Island I think that is a yes. Harry Island does indeed have a bakery which is also the library and holder or direction pointer to all questions that might be asked.
Also, in the event of a Melancholia like rogue planet striking our earth, the only safe refuge on or off the Island.

If you find a conch shell, throw it back in the water.
Yo uglymoney,
My boat was originally from Starks Marine in Prairie du Chein. If I remember correctly, didn’t your gramps know old man Stark real well ?

Mentioned this in the real estate thread, but think it's worth another post.
If you plan to use the island year round consider a small hovercraft for the swing seasons.
Boats will get you there in the summer. Sleds in the winter.
Spring and Fall when the ice is in but too thin to travel, hovercraft FTW.
Spent my summers as a kid at a camp on an island in Lake Winnepesaukee NH. Caretaker who was the only year long resident had a hovercraft to get to the shore when he needed to.
That was 25+ years ago, so maybe there are better options now.. or likely better machines than the old guy had.
But I mean shit. Hovercraft. How could you not want one now that you have reason to own one!
Absolutely. I was eyeing your boat up. At one time Starks Marine was the number one seller of Mercury Outboards in the entire country. Doesn't seem possible but it is true.
My grandpa was a good friend of old man Stark. When I'd tell him who I was he'd always tell me the story of the farm Turkey my grandpa shot the head off of on a bet. Standing shot from some unknown long range that seemed to get longer every time he told the story. Turkey dinner! I forget what my grandpa won. Probably a shot of whiskey.
His kids still run the store.
We still own land up the hill on the other side of the river.

Ice skate derby at Harry's Lake. Fastest lap takes another hit.
DUDE!!!
Sweet. Build a nice off grid tiny house and wave the finger at the world.
Congrats Harry.

Hovercraft FTMFW.
Nobody can fuck with me on my island.

Googled it, turns out personal hovercraft are legit. I’m going to seriously look into this.

For sure get one for shoulder ice season. Just make sure to budget $500 for a dry suit to have along in case it breaks down. Otherwise you're proper fucked needing heli rescue.

Or I could just skip the hovercraft and go straight for a heli.
Or maybe one of those James Bond jetpack things ?
Lots of fun options.

A supa fast snowmobile will skip you across the water during shoulder season just fine.

Maybe an ice punt?

I think you should ice road a kubota out there with a bunch of attachments, skid a tuff shed, a bunch of fuel, and a bunch of supplies. Then get after it next summer. Ice road season is going to be key.
^^ my plan ^^

Have you watched the Jean Aspen movie 'Arctic Daughter'? It is on Prime right now. She goes through her life going to Alaska and building two cabins from scratch out of canoes. The first with her first husband and then she did it again when she remarried. A bit corny and spiritual but these are some bad asses. Like Into the Wild but they actually succeeded....twice.
Sometimes less is more.

On a lake, you want to plow the insulating snow off your road, to let the cold freeze the ice thicker there. You also want to fill cracks, which can turn into pressure ridges.
Also be aware that a well-maintained ice road makes it easy for the hootenanny to drive out there, and start perforating the edges of your ice road road with their fishing holes and propane heated fishing shanties.
Awesome Harry! You’re basically an honorary Canadian that far north… or very southern Canada… either way congrats!!

He's well north of everyone who lives in southern Ontario.
