TSN is an experience. Glad It went well. How was the food?
We had a couple nights in the city to walk around. We tried to get a table at Casa Oaxaca and couldn't, but got a table at Pitonia and it was fucking insane. https://pitiona.com/
Next trip we need to find the real hole in the wall places that are super authentic. The food at the race was pretty good, especially the local style BBQ the first night. Being gluten free was somewhat of a struggle. Only myself and one other racer (Sarah who was 3rd in pro women) were gluten free. We had to kinda bug them to make anything gluten free and/or GF and veggie in her case. Also there wasn't much to drink besides beer and mezcal (and water obviously)......I'm just bringing my own cases of seltzers up the mountain with me next time.
GF and sober at that race? I thought it was hard enough being vegetarian and an alcoholic.
Nice work, Whiteroom. Got pics?
WG, how many trails are there, and are they open for regular use? (Some moto trails I've been on in MX are on private land and only open for events.) I love Oaxaca and would love to go back with bikes... Does it seem like a place one could just rock up to and enjoy? (I speak excellent Spanish, FWIW.)
My Spanish is fairly OK as well. I just paid for my 2022 entry, HMFBD to me!
Quick batch of un-edited photos. I didn't take many. Will link some riding photos when the photogs upload to the intertubes.

I realize it’s bike racing 2022, but I just got into Trans Madeira for next year. So stoked.

Anyone think Andes Pacifico will happen again? Nothing about 2022 on the website or IG.....
Nice work WRG - that TSN sounds super legit.
For sure. The best menudo I've ever had was in the market. And then the pan de muerto with hot chocolate to dip it in....
Is this the same group that runs the TSN?: https://oaxacabikeexpeditions.com/2020tour/
Wife and I are already talking about going back in 2022 but I'm not really interested in racing, but a few casual days riding would be great.
Different outfit.
Alvy (the dude who helps run all the BME races) and his crew put on the race and do "The Ride" :

Interesting, I am also thinking about doing the Jackson Hole Rendezvous event if they host it again in ‘22…
OBE is a good outfit. Alvaro can be a bit much for some people..he is pretty full throttle if that is your thing
Sweet, you gonna try and attend?
Would love to do some pass laps witchya!
I was supposed to get five days of guiding with him outside of Puerto Vallarta, but Covid wrecked it in ‘20. I imagine he is a ripper?
He shreds. Loose.
Can I go back yet?

Welp....I might have to try to get into this. I think I have a new even more expensive addiction.

Also, anyone ever successfully get into an EWS100? Thinking a good alternate would be 10+ days in Yurp and try to get into the Canazei race.
Don’t be bailing on TSN!
That looks amazing.
Hopefully it won't sell out. I didn't even register until like May this year, but registrations may have been delayed?
Buddy and I are pretty set on trying to do an EWS100 in Yurp. Canazei, Crans Montana, or Loudenville. What say you maggots?
Would be part of an at least 10 day trip.
I did Trans Provence (run by Ash who is running StoneKing) - super well run start to finish.
Stone King looks even better. If it’s coming from him I’d bet it will be amazing.
I'm registered for Ironton, Big Sky, and Bachelor BMEs so far for 2022.
Crans-Montana, SUI vs Loudenvielle, FRA? Buddy and I want to race in Europe next summer (thinking late summer has better chance of us even getting into Europe) and it's between these two EWS100 events.
We would spend at least 7-10 days in the area riding just for fun and then also doing the race. Which one and why?
WG, is it time for a new thread?
I haven't seen any update on the MES website for 2022 events.
BME Schedule:
5/14-15 - Ironton, MO
6/25-26 - Big Sky
7/16-17 - Durango Purgatory
8/27-28 - Brian Head, UT
9/17-18 - Bend, OR (Finals)
NAEC at Silver Mt is June 10-12 (of course I have a wedding to attend)
Race schedule for the Twisted Turtle Series in Idaho (seems good for beginners/children):
The Coyote Classic - April 30th, Cross Country
The Pocatello Pedal Fest - Late May, Permit Pending
9 to 5 - June 18th, Endurance
Whit Henry’s Galena Grinder - July 9th, Cross Country + Endurance
Tamarack Weekend - August 6/7 Cross Country/DH-Enduro
Grassy Cross - November 12 & 13 - CycloCross
Sandy Cross - December 3 & 4 - CycloCross
Anybody know if it’s ok to pedal and ride purgatory, in Durango, mid-week when the lifts are closed? Driving out from OR to race BME and trying to figure out my road trip and pre-ride schedule
Almost always even if you normally COULD pedal up when there is a BME the following weekend they close it to uphill traffic that preceding week. The organizers are up there taping course, cutting/fixing trail etc and don't want anyone to be in their way or have an advantage before the Friday practice.
Purg will be open with the lift running everyday by the week of the BME. I’m not sure what the trail open/closed situation will be as they set up the stages.

Thanks, I misinterpreted the operating hours on their website. Open every day makes life easy!
