Maybe it’s just my favorite but they had a marathon on at Thanksgiving and laughed my @ss off the whole long weekend.

So do my kids. They've watched all the seasons multiple times. In fact I bought the DVD set for my youngest because it got taken off Netflix, and now she's going through all the seasons with my wife. OMG they laugh and laugh and laugh. I go in the basement. I like Friends though. I've watched a bunch of random episodes with my kids and they are actually quite funny. Great ensemble cast.Quote:

The South Park boys' That's My Bush bombed hard, largely because people expected political satire, which it mainly wasn't. But once you get that the whole point of the show is to deconstruct and make fun of the sitcom genre, it's pretty amazing. Easily half of the eight episodes are very rewatchable.
Not much else to add. Yeah, a lot of the shows that keep getting mentioned were great. But it's telling that how old-school most of the show mentions are (and some of the more recent mentions are only arguably true sitcoms). The best comedy shows these days have mostly left the constraints of the sitcom format behind. Oh yeah, and did anyone mention Children's Hospital yet?
I have a lot of grievances I need to air, and your dislike of Seinfeld is one of them!!

I was never a fan of Seinfeld or Curb.
That '70s show should have ended much earlier.
I really liked King of The Hill and Futurama, but I'm not sure if those qualify as sitcoms.
But All In The Family is still my favorite.
Sitcoms have been around for about 70 year so there are quite a few groundbreaking shows that deserve recognition. A lot of them are already listed above. And there’s been a lot of mediocrity in that time. Who remembers I Married Dora, for example?
So just thinking about recent shows, I think The Good Place brought something special. The writing was tight. There were so many jokes that I want to go back and rewatch to see what I missed. There are probably some jokes that make no sense unless you’re rewatching, like in Arrested Development. But the ending hit so hard that I’ll probably wait a year or more before doing that.
The Good Place tackled some big picture issues in a very accessible way. It made philosophy interesting and accessible. It had a great cast, with Ted Danson working at a peak as high as Cheers. It was funny as fuck.
Another vote here for Faulty Towers. I'm pretty sure I almost suffocated laughing a few times watching that show.
Seinfeld is probably the top due to longevity and the way it has become ingrained in culture. It is also re-watchable just to catch all of the classic scenes. There is some part of virtually every episode that you can reference and people will know what your talking about.

Seinfeld was so good because it's so relatable. There are so many situations in every day life that are funny in a way that's tough to put your finger on. Seinfeld consistently put it's finger on it.Quote:
