A SUP retro fitted for a quadrapalegic

last year I helped buddy get on a sit-on-top and we did a little paddling while I acompanyed him on my SUP
so of course he also wanted to SUP
he borrowed a board and here we are
^^^^ FKNA XXX-er
good rigging
yeah buddy is seriously disabled but still trying to push the limits, so i been helping him
back in the day as an able bodied skier he did 28000 ft roughly the height of everest by fair means so 18 laps no lift and 3 months later was a quadrapalegic from an accident at whistler bike park
it became a local fund raiser to ski 28000 ft in a day, it took buddy about 8hrs but he managed to uphill ski a 2km lap
You must mean para instead of quad?

no a quad, they tell me an incomplete spinal IS a quad
he was a pretty extreme individual before he got hurt so inspite of being a Quad he drives and he tries to do things with a lot of help like ski tour 2km or paddle a sit on top or even sup, things most able bodied people don't do
even ski down hill which we did using a 10 ft pole with him hanging on in the middle as we did S turns which is really interesting cuz the guy on the outside of the pole has to ski real fast while the guy on the inside almost stops and then it reverses as the outside guy becomes the inside guy
edit: I couldn't make it but apparently he modifyed the setup and managed to paddle a couple hundred feet yesturday so he was happy
Gotcha, yes incomplete IS still characterized as a quad. Awesome he is able to have some function. And awesome he had peeps like you to help facilitate!

he is a much loved local, he is wealthy enough that he insists on paying his assistants 25$ an hr
so we insist on donating the money to a worthy cause like the mtn bike club or the paddling club
Did a nice attainment yesterday with a new sup friend. Paddled up to an island and around then back down the channel behind it. Lots of fish back there and the island has a sweet but used campy spot. May do an over nighter there soon.
Fun to explore new spots.

From this past weekend. Really good surfing and quiet float down a low use section below the rapids.

Sup'ing the river has been my intro to white water. Last time I was out someone taught me how to do proper eddy peel outs...total game changer.
Haha is selling demos vis CKS.
After two months of zero rain we finally got a good soaker. Rivers up some with slugs of water on the way. Got the gf out on her new boatd at a local surf wave. Good day!

Got out for a beauty float with nearly 0 wind and 58F high, friends and Thanksgiving day left overs heated on a fire pit/grill plus beers.Attachment 435723
I recently just got a inflatable SUP after renting a solid material one. What a let down! takes alot more skill to stand and ride haha.
i suspect a short drive.... well done on getting out
This river run is just shy of 11 miles and shuttle was maybe 14 miles.
Saw 6 bald eagles and tons of other assorted waterfowl. Beauty day.
Local creek surf wave is also in with temps still in the mid 50s.

After several days of much needed rain a little surf time on a local wave.
nothing much, sup with you?
It is indeed the Atcha 96, excellent board. Hala makes an 86 also. The Rado is to not be overlooked either.
Check them out, the stomp box is next level.
Those Hala's look pretty sweet. A little pricey, but what good outdoor gear isn't. Know anything about the NRS Whip? Looks decent as well and could be had for less than $700.
Not a big fan of the NRS boards.
They are ok and a value buy on sale.
Not bad as a back up or loaner for a friend.

Lake Roosevelt

I don't think I could enjoy being on the water with that many people. But then again I'm an old anti social hermit.
We've been getting out a couple times a week and have really been enjoying it. Love hanging out in the marsh with the geese, birds and carp.

So blessed today, got a surf run in on my home river. Its been crazy dry and are in a moderate drought. Did not expect the light rains of the last few days to bring the river up as much as it did.

sorry to be disrespectful, but,
she looks like a bitch ....
