New dhf and trail boss combo on my sentinel. Should roll a bit faster than the worn out magic marry and hand damf that came off. 2.5 dhf is a lot bigger than a 2.4 wtb and abut bigger than a 2.35 schwalbe
I've got a Cushcore XC and their uber lever sitting on my bench waiting to be installed. Not cause I flat, but so I can run silly low pressures without squirmy sidewalls. I'm really unsure how much time the install is going to take. The videos make it look really straightforward, but I hear so much bitching about it.
Use a trash can. Use the soapy water. You don't need it, but might as well use the hammer handle to mount the insert onto your rim too. Give yourself about 30 min for first time, but it'll go quicker than that.
Did I mention, use the soapy water? Seriously, do not skip that part.
BTW, the bead dropper is mint. But, you might also want a Pedros lever handy.
It's all about jamming the tire bead deep into the well, under the insert, all the way around, so it doesn't need to stretch to get over opposite end.
Thanks, good to know.
Did I mention the soapy water? Use liberally

Just mounted up my first pair of carbon hoops, Bontrager Line Pro 30s.
New rubber too. Trying the dual compound DHR2 in back, standard DHF up front.
STOKED
Oh, and I've got a set of Stan's Flow MK3 with DHF/DHR2 coming to market soon :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...740d083cbc.jpg

2020 Giant Revolt Advanced 2. Replaces a older (2012) Kona Jake the Snake that I’ve been using as commuter and general road bike.
Going to set up another set of wheels with strictly road tires and replace the Giant gravel tires on this set. Suggestions on 700x40+ gravel tires?
Looking forward to doing some gravel exploring around Calgary. Has anyone local got some good suggestions. Was thinking that Big/Little Elbow loop would be a great ride. Did it over 20 years on my old hardtail.

I put up for sale last night (through a couple of Facebook groups) and guy drove up from Okotoks this morning and bought it for full asking price. Made me wonder if I asked enough but I figured $750 for an 8 year old aluminum bike with close to 15k km was pretty good.

The Rona has made the used bike market around here go crazy.... was just asking as I have a friend looking for something similar is all. Always feels good selling that stuff within the first day or 2.

Jake the snake is a pretty popular, few years ago a buddy of mine traded in a virtualy unused jake and got almost what she paid for it from a dealer who obviously had a buyer
What’s that bad Larry weigh with that baller build? Curious as I have the working man build and love to ponder what could be of course[emoji848]

Well shit. Sick build though. I’d like to put my GX drivetrain in a dumpster. Probably should add that to the rant thread.

Buddy of mine just weighed his Transition Patrol at 40#.
XL, coil, DH tires, CushCore

I haven't weighed my sentinel but it is for sure 35ish with alloy everything and a burly rear tire. I figure I am north of 200 and can lug around an extra couple pounds of bike weight to be able to plow over everything. It does feel quite a bit quicker with the trail boss/DHF tires replacing the Hans Damf/ Magic mary
My Stache hardtail is 27.5#. My Hightower is just over 30#. I'm becoming a wuss. I mainly choose the Stache because the weight is so much more noticeable on the climbs (where I'm spending the majority of my time). I was trying to figure out last night where to lose 2# on the HT but I'm coming up short. :-/ First world problems...
carbon cranks.... spendy but you can shed real weight at no performance loss... until they break...
Switching my RSD Middle Child from 27.5+ mode to 29er. Swapped Cane Creek Helm Air 27.5 for Fox 36 GRIP2 29, both set at 160mm, but might drop to 150mm. Wheels were Ibis 738 with Rekon 2.8 and now Race Face Turbine R 29 with Schwalbe Nobby Nic/Hans Dampf 29x2.6. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4e0ad798c3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bb2deb65a5.jpg

Intense T275 Carbon size large. Carbon cranks, carbon bars, Chinese carbon wheels on DT350s. XX1 11speed, 1000g tires and I can get it below 28#
Racing Ralphs, get rid of the dropper, and drillium!
I keep thinking that I should be able to get down to 28# also. General build is:
Hightower "C" size L
SixC cranks
Reynolds TR309 wheels
e*thirteen 9-46 cassette
DHF/Aggressor 2.5 (probably overkill)
Carbon bars
Carbon Lev dropper
Manitou Mattoc
DPS rear shock (not a piggy)
XT shifter and RD
My wife's Tallboy 1 with similar parts is coming in at 29#, so maybe my Amazon luggage scale is off?

Didn’t have to pay for them, but I did design them. As part of my engineering masters program this spring we partnered with a company called Impossible Objects, they’re pioneering carbon fiber composite 3D printing. These are a carbon fiber and PEEK composite material - should hopefully be pretty indestructible (PEEK is a plastic that’s super high strength, used to replace metal in a lot of engineering applications).
Flat pedals, concave side to side and front to back. About 18mm thick, Should be sub 400g. I’ll post some installed pictures once I get them and install the spikes and axle and put them on the bike. Fun project

That is so rad.
I just got new wheel bearings front and rear. It made SUCH a difference. Bike is rolling so much smoother. It’s one of those things that wears out gradually and slowly so you don’t really notice until you replace them. Huge difference.
I'll second the "try it, before you fork it" recommendation. It's such a fun bike.

Still rollin those Derbys? Those bearings put in some solid service!
Ha ha yup same ones with the original bearings. Sure got my moneyÂ’s worth.

Meet my purple dinosaur- 29+ is sooo fun! I use mine as a 1 bike quiver.
Finally out of the stone age with a new whip. Haven't had a new MTB in about 9 years. Was sold on another Pivot but checked out a local company instead and couldn't say no. Revel Rascal in almost Dentist level build.
