Happened to be in Whitefish riding bike park yesterday and drove back to Bozeman in the afternoon on 83. Definitely passed some TD riders. So cool. Yesterday was a gorgeous day to be out there despite a couple good rain showers

Asked this over in the northeast thread, but it might get more reply here -
Is there some reason why a small handlebar bag costs so damn much? I only have one jersey with pockets and really don't like when my food and phone are all sweaty during a ride so I thought the burrito bag might be a decent choice. But $70?
C'mon.
My cursory take: People into gravel generally have money, gravel riding is blowing the fuck up, companies can throw crazy numbers out there for product and people will buy it....
I like this one, sits on the front of the top tube.

Fuck it. I just found this old Nalgene Insulation sleeve in the basement. It’s got a 1.5”x3.5” velcro strap that should hold well for gravel (maybe not class 4 though). It’s a little wonky given that it’s strapped to my stem, but well padded from the insulation for my phone, snacks, etc., and it’s free. No issues with steering in the driveway yet.

I’ve run one a few times and it doesn’t really impede hand positioning, or at least not for me as there is no reason to have your hands that close to the stem. It’s a handy bag location and helpful for long 1 day rides with limited supports for refueling. My biggest issue is sometimes I’d graze my right knee on it.
In a strong headwind or something, I like to get my hands really close to the stem and tuck down almost like I'm on TT bars. Seems marginally more aerodynamic than being in the drops as my shoulders and arms are tucked in more.
That roadrunner bags guy seems like a good dude, we have some mutual friends and guys I used to ride with in LA are always out doing stuff with him. Also he got bit by a rattlesnake on a ride a few years ago so maybe his bags have to cost more to pay off those medical bills. I kind of want that wedge half frame bag and the smaller burrito bag, although they're probably only useful for longer single day trips.
As far as spending less on bags goes, there's jandd, some guys on ebay that do custom bags for less than the name brands, and some cheaper amazon/ebay pre-made stuff.

Yeah that's impressive. Doesn't seem sustainable but people are capable of some amazing things.
Lael is already through Wise River. Well ahead of the current women's record.
How are people following this beside the Live Tracking website? That is a phenomenal distance that people have gone in the first 4 days.
I've been following at the link below. It adds some commentary and photos the Track Leaders feed.

Holy hell this is a minimal setup!

The spindles on those xtr pedals are the weak link in her system imo.
I have a Garmin edge 500 I no longer use if you are interested (or anyone else here)
I'd let it go to one of you guys for $75. I've got the manuals, cables etc
Husband got it for me but I generally use my apple watch so haven't used it much and would rather see it used than sit on my bench!
Lael is slowly gaining on the Men's Record flag.
They are all about to hit a shit-ton of snow. First in the Towogotee pass area, then the pass between Towogotee and Pinedale. Then four miles of walking (reported) between Brush Mtn Lodge and Steamboat. I'm assuming a bunch the rest of the way in Colorado. I know the southern part of the CO route/northern NM was reported to be snowed in and muddy on the approached. Northbound rider appears to be in it now.
I'd assume she has some sort of a water bladder in there somewhere or maybe a pack/vest?
DId a good dirt/gravel ride yesterday with some guys down in the bitterroot on the sapphire side. Up one drainage, along the ridge, down another. Turns out we went by the northern end of sapphire divide trail 313. Well, techincally not, but the more maintained end anyway.

Like 66mi from florence and back and somewhere between 5-6k ft of vert, depending on who's gps you go by.
Holy shit. Sofiane really put on the juice last night. Damn.
Agree - I was surprised that they didn't have more walking in those two sections. From the dots, they did have some slow movment, but him being able to get 4+hrs of sleep in a hotel overnight should be good. Kato appears to have taken a few naps on the pass between Towogotee and Pinedale (Union pass?)
Rear suspension on a gravel bike?

Add a lefty from a Slate and go hit the bike park!
Cannondale and their gimmicks. Remember back in the day, when they first got into MTB’s? And their bikes had 24” rear wheels and 26” front? The first time I saw one I swore would never buy one of their bikes.
Not a fan
Ted and company seemed to have a good time on mixed surfaces. I really like the Lefty Oliver for smoothing out the bumps.
The cool kids will have to have one.

A buddy of mine at UVM had one of those 46ers. Had the mud collecting under BB U-Brake as well.
