Pure carnage to be had by all!!
We might need a bigger house?
I cleared some stuff out of my PM box.
(and can't stop thinking of Roy Scheider in Jaws when reading Hayduke's last post).
edit: was then & am now v. drunk - move along please.
Was planning on St. Anton, Austria at that time but accomodation has not yet been booked.
I fly into Zurich on the 17th and out on the 25th but to change flights will cost me $ so maybe if there is a train that can get me to France for less then the cost of rearranging flights..........
Research has begun
Flanker, normally I'd say sack wherever you're going and come to La Grave (which you should if you can) but St. Anton is very cool. Fantastic skiing and fantastic drinking. So basically, whatever you do you're onto a winner.
:)
Weather models show a serious circulation change in the next 2weeks towards W-NW weather with snow down to 1000m and below. (and i hope for a lot of it.)
Hope is renewed, but nothing is certain. i'll be more precise around tuesday/wednesday.
*bump*
I'm in! I can only be there the 16-19 though. I'll be driving down from deutchland and looking for a place to stay. Floor, couch or hotel. This is gonna be sweeet.:D
Hey where exactly are you going from? If someone drives from here(germany), i might be joining you....... because 4days i can spare... i guess.Quote:

I'll be living in hanau(sub of frankfurt) till feb then move to GAP. If you can get to frankfurt I could give you a lift.
Well that aint that far awayfrom cologne..... :DQuote:

If we can find cheap accomodation i might be in. This sounds too cool to be missed.
Let me think I need 3 nights, from friday to monday. Ski pass and gas.(i can stay hungry for 3 days.. hehe)
I assume you start thursday night ski from friday to monday and come back in the night from monday to tuesday ?
So would any maggot have a place to crash for me if i joined brewski ?
I can't give you a place to crash because I'm already dirtbagging on some friends floor (they don't really know that yet...) but I can probably help you fix up somewhere cheap - cheapest will be about 10-12 euros per night (if you're into being really cheap).
Tell me here what kind of place you're into and I'll come up with some suggestions. You'll get best value over a week but getting an appartment - it can still work that way over less than a week too but not normally over a w/e.
As for hunger - I have a friend who was too poor to buy food a couple of seasons ago. He took a plastic bag of sugar and a spoon in his pack every day and ate that. He survived :)
Yup, thats what I was thinking for a scheduale(sp) Prob. leave hanau thurs afternoonish. I'm definately into being really cheap. find the cheapest place you can. I'd rather have cash for food and tasty beverages. I can (and have!:D ) sleep in a ditch as long as I can pay for skiing! I'm gettin stoked! Hey subtle plauge, I will be heading home for holidays next tues for 2 weeks. I'll be back jan 1 if you want to talk details.
Mulletizer! Do you know where you got that pricing panel for Chalet de la Meje from? I tried booking it with Philippe and hge didn't recognise the prices!
I've got me, Chris, BrownMonkey, Truth, Ripzalot and Hayduke down for a six-man and just waiting for Philippe to get back with the revised rate (was €505 with the hot tub etc).
This is gonna be one hell of a trip...stoke reaching UBER levels.
brewski, the same for me. i only need a hot shower and a place to sleep.(you do not want me to leave out the showery thingy guys.. hrr hrr) :D
so 10-12 euro sounds great Mullet. And it would only the 4 days for me so an appartement wont do. You could probably arrange a four day honeymoon suite for me and brewski ;) ?
And when would we have to confirm ? Because i guess i can confirm this insanity around january 8-9th ...
Just kip in the hot tub?
This showed up on my doorstep last week.

I wonder if the guy from Porsche will understand when I explain to him that I'm not quite sure where it is at the moment but I'm sure it'll turn up sooner or later. Possibly some time in May. ;)
Hang on... that's not Tooting ;) The car might make a nice place for Brewski to sleep though. hehe...
Roo: The pricing panel camer from the chalets de la meije site here for the full service package and here for standard rentals. I hope they were the right prices I gave you but it looks as if I am a dumb fucking idiot (505 was the price I gave you right?) and the price for the place you're looking at should be 535 (the difference is smaller for the other apartment). Might have cocked up and looked at the summer prices... Hope not... Sorry if I did... Beer's on me if I cocked up...
The cheapest place in town is Gite le Refuge - they are advertising 10E per night. Phone 04 76 79 91 89. Email eliane[dot]rousset [at]efpg[dot]impg [dot]fr. I think it's a nice enough place. At the top of the village; that's not really a problem as you'll realise when you see the place.
M
Roo...I have no words to decribe the raging jealousy that is boiling up inside me right now...go beat that thing to a pulp.
On a similar note, a Da'Kine Dually bag woth 185cm XXX will fit easily inside an M3...ya just don't want to have any passengers.:D
Mulletizer - no worries. I appreciate you finding it in the first place and another €30 divided by six is, well, pretty small beer. ;)
Truth - That Porsche is a blast. I only wish I could afford to run the thing! At an average of 13mpg, our $6 gallons will soon wear a hole in my budget. I have something FAR more modest lined up for January.
Go on, post a pic of the rampant gas guzzler you've got lined up.........twingo wasn't it? Hope it's got a sun roof:)Quote:

It may have even less panache than a Twingo. :P
BTW Anyone for stickers? Ideas?
http://www.badroo.alivewww.co.uk/bits/tgr3s.jpg
ONS can send the scaleable logos for us to play with in finalising a sticker.
He also reckoned some TGR crew from Chamonix may also be on their way down to join us. ;)
That sticker looks friggin cool! I would be honored to rack out in such ride as that Mullitzer, its nicer than my apartment! A twingo huh? I'll get a smart car and we can race!:D
Looks like the blocking high pressure region will be on its bike by Wednesday/Thursday giving the Oisans some snow. :D [/antijinx]
My first couple of days last season I still didn't have a place rented. Here was my home. Note the blacked out windows, alloys and "shopping" decal.
http://www.asdz30.dsl.pipex.com/panda3.jpg
I pulled out the passenger and back seats and laid a board the length of the car and put a thermorest and bag on that. Pretty comfortable and I liked having my beer crate sitting on the driver's seat where I could just reach it from my bed :D
Now that's core. How cold did it get?
I've had a few idea of my own about heating a truck bed...
It was pretty toasty once I had a couple of blankets and my breath had warmed up the car a bit. I'm sure that a good skinful of genepi helped too. It was only for the first Mondial weekend (because I didn't have my place in La Grave until the following weekend) so early season, not too chilly. Sleeping in the car wasn't core; having a car like that with black rear lights and a carbon strip along the side is, however, truly core
Great sticker, like the colors and "eurothrashers". Maybe I should make the drive down to pick one up... Thinking about it. LITT
Roo...Mulletizer...damn fine work on all counts.
Just checked out the ispo site for details on when lph, Natty, and I will need to be in Munich to find new kill products for PMG. ispo runs Feb 1-4, so we'll have time before and or after to do whatever, with a little sidetrip to Andorra. Idris has informed me that there will be a nice diesel van avialable for us to use while we're there, so the Euro Maggot Bus might be a total reality. It hauls like 8 or 9 plus gear. What are the dates on this again?
The key week is 17-24th Jan down in La Grave. Be good to see you down there...
FKNA!
OUT. OF. CONTROL.
If anybody's toying with the idea of skiing Europe, believe me, the time is now. You'll be guaranteed a warm welcome in both Chamonix and La Grave.
I think some old maggot once noted that doing's better than having. The doing's going off in France in January...
I finally managed to book that chalet. We're on.
Go here click on the Stars and Stripes and take a virtual visit. Sick view off the balcony.
Here's some webcam shots of the mountain.

Chalet's booked from the 17th to the 24th January so let me know how many nights you'll be staying and I'll work out the costings.
I'll be there the 17th to the 24th....pray for snow.

The 17th to the 24th sounds good to me. My work is still a bit tenative, but I don't think it will be a problem. I'll probably have to just be on call during the week. (damn computers!)
Check your PM. (I PMed you, didn't I?)
