Periods of light followed by periods of darkness.
Seems like the usual heat and humidity here in the mid-Atlantic has not been bad this year but then we still have August and Sept. to get thru.

Fall starts in 3 weeks, hang in there.
109 is no joke.
It’s about time, summer finally started.

Take me to the river
We had a few days of 97-98 early last week, but dew point was down to 65. Hot, but not too bad. Low 90s this week, but t-storms pushed the dew point to 75. Blech. Looks like it’s gonna cool off a little heading into the weekend.
Well, here we go again. 103 on my car today when I went riding. Man, I was NOT feeling well afterward. I think I shorted myself in the pre-hydration for the day. All this week is supposed to be right around 100 for highs so I better do a better job of prepping. We had such a cool and wet May/June that I haven't had a chance to adjust to the heat. I would love highs around 75 for the next two months.
93F on Union Hill today. TFH.
As hard as it is to admit it, even I got tired of the grey gl00m and drizzle this year, so I guess it's about time. But when it's 80F at 20:00, that's too much. Looks like moderation is pending, at least temperature wise.
Not ashamed to admit I'm just not a fan of temperatures over about 85 nowadays. I'd prefer it under 80.
Me too.
Above 80F I switch activities.
I feel bad for my kids today.
They have 2 lacrosse games on TURF today.

So here we often play 3 set tennis matches in 80-85 degree; 80% plus humidity (9:00 AM start) this time of year that's not half bad. When my sons were playing tournaments they would play 3 3-set singles matches in a day when it was regulary 95 or so 80+% humidity. Which is half bad. How they didn't melt I'll never know. I guess in a very real sense in 20-30 years we'll look back and call it child abuse
Time to get out the slip and slide!
Not just hot in Eastern/Central Washington, but has all the ingredients for significant man made wildfire threat. Man made because no lightning forecast. Assume this is true for most of the Western US:

Yeah... my wheat is being harvested today. Hoping it goes off without a hitch.

Sure, we're getting nuked.
Fuck. 108 with dead air. Not an ounce of breeze. Dying.......
I would be so outta there, but I hate heat.
Hit 118'F here in my part of Phoenix today.. ugh
Most of AZ has been triple digits for well over a month, and it's not quite August yet.
The only thing that makes them social is the monsoon. Which really only hit for about a week and has retreated.
I've spent way too much of my time in life wasted in Arizona. Beautiful state, but fuck that.

Pffffttt...125 in Baghdad the other day. Whiners.
The thing about Phoenix is that it only goes down to like 95dF at night. Rough. Most of the people I know that live there have a pool.
LOL!
88° last night when I went to bed at 10p and it's 88° now at 9a.
When it gets hot like this I think about those people who crossed the plains on the Oregon trail. Must have been seriously motivated to do that esp. in the horribly heavy constricting clothes they wore. Ugh.
Couple nights in PHX this year didn’t get below 100. Still infinitely better with the sun down, it’s at least manageable.
The warm season this year has sucked that much more with the COVID shutting down all forms of entertainment that helped get through it last year. I’m not much of a drinker or party guy but that’s kind of what you gotta do IMO to remain sane/relevant and not locked in the AC for 3 months. Sure you’ve got a couple hours in the early morning most days for a quick hike or ride, but once the sun is up the day is shot for most activities.
Or just be smart like RA and live in Flagstaff.
Nope
Pretty much every summer you're guaranteed at least one week of 115+.. sometimes more. Like this year.
I've lived in Phx my whole life (close to 40yrs), and I hate it a little more every summer. If (when) I move away, it'll be somewhere with bigger mountains and moar snow than Flagg. Not that I don't love the mountains here..
